Quick question. I thought all of UPP's 61/82's had the surge housing?

LOL! I'll let Bill fill you in on the specifics, but he has the dual flanges on his hot pipes for a T4 or a T3 to bolt up. The turbo's themselves currently have a T3 flange on the exhaust housing. Not sure what the AR is, but its kind of on the smaller side just from the appearance. Bill will have to tell you for sure. I just let him use my shop and helped him with an extra set of hands here and there. I got to come in each day after working nights to see what him and our friend Gary had done the prior night. But Bill was over today and was talking about getting some of the tuning done and was getting closer to turning it up some. I know he's liking the E85 though lol.

Yea they are T3 turbine housings and while there's no AR stamped on them CK said they're similar to their other turbos which is a ~.62 AR. 72mm compressor inducer, 108 turbine exducer, ball bearing.

The tune isn't dead nuts on yet but it's close. Took it on an extended cruise last night and it's behaving very well. No gremlins have popped up, drivability is great, spools nice and it pulls good on gates. I increased the wastegate springs to 15# to make sure I could hit 20+#. IAT's are great for not having meth anymore. Not that it's been hot out but I can honestly say the car runs a solid 25 degrees cooler. It never got over 185 yesterday (AC off) and was usually under 180, as low as 172. Usually it would be 200+ on a cool day without AC on. Not sure if that's due to not having turbos hugging the block anymore, the air gap in front of the condenser/radiator or the E85 or a combination of all three but it's a welcome change! It's notably quieter than before with the cutouts closed and sounds great with them open. But it's hard to hear the turbos with the cutouts open or closed. If I moved the BOV out of sight I think I could pass for a heads cam car. I'm digging the corn. While mileage took a hit (obvi), it's cheap and I don't smell like exhaust gas when I get out of the car and it added 5 degrees of flex fuel advance to the PE and no knock.

Thanks for the update. Is the turbo noise muffled now by the relocation (comparatively speaking) or just the larger compressor working easier?

Awesome build or rebuild I've always liked that kit, but was weary about all the connections and running it through the fenders. What waste gate spring were your running that didn't allow you to turn it up? I always wanted a turbo setup just so I could turn it down to what I want but 15 psi I would assume it making some power 800+. Glad your likeing the corn, about to see what it's all about too can't wait to see it putting in some work. Ps we need some videos.

Looking Great Bill! Keep me updated on the results. Those turbos somehow look familiar. :-)

Based on feedback from the other guys making big power with this kit, it seems as if the Turbosmart wastegates are incapable of providing the typical 2:1 - 2.5:1 boost increase that you'd typically be able to get from a boost controller despite backpressure being quite low. The car acts great on 15# though. After 2k I'll put some 93 in and see if timing adjustments are necessary.

Will hopefully dyno by end of the week and I'll try and post up a street tuning video.

I think there's a lot that goes into this, and ign timing is definitely one. Also for the really high HP guys the exhaust housing is a touch on the small side for faster spooling, which we are attempting to address with the new 72mm version with a slightly bigger turbine wheel.
