Yeah I already gave him that one back on the first page of this thread, he wasn't too happy with the info there though.
Look at a board called www.caddyinfo.com for more Northstar info.

your swap is possible even with a zf 6 speed
check it out
the later northstars are good for 469 hp and could go a lot more...the block could be stroked to 5.4 liter and the supercharger changed too...
the bolt pattern for the zf 6 speed swap are kind like the ones on 60 degree v6s...a t5 bell housing will fit with minimal customizing...basically the right side bold need to be moved by about an inch...
look for these :
These later engines are designated LH2 (naturally aspirated, 320 horsepower) and LC3 (443 to 469 horsepower)
here are some links for you

this one is the one you will need the most...look under their new products sections:
http://www.chrfab.com/
I 've got one of these in my 88' 325is convertible...it rocks to say the least....0 to 60 in under 4.6 secs! (...that is at Palmdale with elevation!)
good luck and may the force be with you...the speed demon force!!
bye

I know this is old, but it was brought back...sooooo
The 4.4l is an awesome motor, but there are absolutely no reasonable mods for it. That's why my XLR-V stayed stock
For a performance platform to build off of it can't compete with the LS2.

hi Floyd
here is what I have done to mine:
you can always add a decent two stage NOS kit...I have added a simple 80HP spray near the intake throttle, and plumbered in another direct injection nozzle for each cylinder...that one is good for another 250 hp...fuel inrichment is done via a nos direct injection box...older model that i had laying around.
Needeless to say that with the zf six speed and the final ration of 4.10 the car really flys....a true sleeper!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
88' BMW 325is convertible with a northstar LC3 conversion, dual stage NOS and ZF six speed transmission 4.10 ratio rear...without the NOS it is a sub 5 second 0 to 60 car...with the NOS well no idea since i have never taken it to the track!

Hi, I realize this is a very old thread; (07) but I've been researching the 4.4 myself and would like to ask you if you ever made any headway with your search. I've got a non-no. C-2 coupe that i'd like to put a Northstar in mated to a TKO-5 spd. But the computer has me dead-ended. Thanks, Mike C.

The Northstar is a far more sophisticated design but if you are going to go changing engines, an LS7 will be an easy fit and far less money to install. If I remember, most Northstars are installed horizontally for front wheel drive, making install longitudinally even more unlikely..
