Substituting the thick heavy cast iron exhaust manifolds for thinwall headers will allow a lot more valvetrain noise to come out. I started noticing it a lot more after my Kooks header install; it sounds like a metallic ticking.

Does it sound like this?
Mez's engine on YouTube
The ticking or sewing machine sound is from the lifters and/or rocker arms due to the more aggressive cam profile. Not the headers. I did not notice any ticking sounds after the installation of the headers (Dynatech).

Mine has the same noise, and my motor is not even the stock motor, but the first time I put it on the lift I could hear it big time and thought something was wrong. After taking a stethoscope to every part of the engine I decided it was just a noise that was resonating out of the headers. It almost seemed like it was coming mostly from the catalytic converters. I have since gutted them and will see if they still make the noise when I get it back together.

That can come from improperly torqued header bolts. Get your torque wrench and do them all over again. I had the same problem. I was amazed how little torque they require.

Installed my Kooks today and have the same low ticking sound come from the headers, but not a leak.

OK lets go through this one more time! this is an ALL aluminum engine you will hear things that you never hear in a cast iron motor, the clicks your hearing are the injectors firing

I agree for stock motors. In my case, when the new cam was installed, the noise was definitely more noticeable. So it probably is both lifters from the cam plus the stock injectors. Funny thing, after a couple thousand miles, the noise has decreased. Weird.
