Default 160 Thermostat - Easy Install?

Just got a tune and had the cooling fan set point lowered

I am going to swap to a 160 T-stat to preserve the timing.

How difficult is this, what has to be removed to get to it?

I assume a burping is in order, anyone have a good technique?

Thank you

BTW- please don't reply that this is a bad idea, I appreciate your opinion but I will be going ahead with this.

Easy to do. I did it in my driveway in about 20 minutes. I burped it by letting it run with the cap off and installing coolant until it was at the correct level.

If you are fast enough you just remove the bolts and have the new stat at the ready, pull the housing back, remove old stat, drop in the new and button it back up while loosing minimal coolant. Just make sure you have the new stat clocked correctly.

Thanks guys

Is it best to do it from above or below?

I like the idea of quickly swapping them but I've 70K on the car, I may as well refresh the coolant since I'm in there

I have a Z07 radiator and it had a drain on the right hand side. Can't remember if the others have a drain plug or not.
