Any update on what the dealer said and if they listened to potential issues?

Yes. Finally heard from the dealer today. The oil pump is shot. They said the same thing I did about being fortunate that I wasn't driving the car when it went.
They are covering the repair under the 3 month Powertrain warranty I got with the used car purchase. I just squeaked by too. I only had 4 more days on that warranty.

Not for nothing slick; but you can do what you want with your Corvette and I'll do what I think is best for mine.

What exactly am I supposed to be careful with?
You didn't add any helpful information to the original post, but instead came trolling along with a smart assed comment.
I deal with plenty of trolls in other forums I am a member of too. Just because you're a senior member; don't mean squat to me.

Do we call that Good Luck, or Bad Luck?

Glad it's getting fixed without killing your wallet.

Good luck? Maybe
Bad luck? More likely.
I don't really have good luck. I'm more like the old saying:
"If it weren't for bad luck; I'd have no luck at all."

Maybe you can talk them into looking real close at the balancer and replace that if it needs it while it's off. Any other oil leaks around the oil pan area? Good time to get everything looked at since a tech will be that deep in there.
Question, what was the normal oil pressure on the hot engine when idling? Mine has dropped to 29psi.

I had no leaks prior to this happening.

My oil pressure at idle was normally 19-20 psi with the engine warmed up.

Most likely the sensor.

In 1984 I bought a brand new GMC pick up. Picked it up on a rainy night, and immediately noticed the oil pressure gauge was 0. I went in to the dealer and got the salesman. He said, "don't worry. probably just a wire or bad sensor. bring it in tomorrow and we'll fix it".

Ooookay...........

Ten miles down the interstate the engines starts sounding like a can of marbles and the coolant gauge is pegged.

I pull into a Shell station at the next exit and we put 6 qts of oil in the crankcase !!! Started it up and it ran smooth as silk.

Next day I'm on the phone with the dealer. They were very accommodating and apologetic. Said I could have another truck, a new engine, or an extended warranty.

I took the warranty.

Damn truck had 350k on her when I sold it, and it still ran like new.

So, I would not worry about any internal engine damage.
