Any thoughts on what gears do to zero to 60 or zero to 80 times? How many tenths would this gear change shave off?

0-80 with the 2.56 will get you there with only one shift. You'd use the full power band in both gears. The 3.15 will need to shift to 3rd and will be about halfway through that gear.

If you only gain a tenth in the quarter, you won't get multiple tenths before then.

^ This right here is great info / perspective ^
I get it, and it looks like I will stick with the stock gears and just do the LPE Heads. Thank you!

Wondering if anyone has any regrets on the Gear swap?

My intended use is for street driving mostly around town and the occasional road trip. Car sees road tracks a few times a year. Currently putting down 400 RWHP.
Gents
Here is my two cents;
2005 A6- upgrades; Hall-tech Cold Air, 92mm FAST Intake, Mega Death .629" Cam, Cooks Headers, after market exhaust and Tuned to 440 RWHP. Very most recent upgrade was a .373 gear change, raised my RPM's 400 at 70 MPH. Improved my 60' from 2 to best 1.8 on stock wheels, tires and suspension. Best E/T 11.82 @ 120 MPH and cannot wait on the M/T Drag Radials late next week. Good luck

Nice build! I thought the 05 only came with the A4? Trap speed is looking good! Guessing you should pick up at least 2/10ths with DRs.

You might consider LS3 heads as a low priced alternative. IIRC, they're around $600 new, including valves. Check with your local dealer.
the 05 used the much improved and strongest auto ever put in a C6.the 4L65e

Update: Thanks for the input on this thread. I went with an RPM Transmissions 3.15 Diff also had a few other HP adders since last year. Very happy with gear selection.

I gave the car a wife test today. I was on a empty stretch of roadway with my lady and I asked if it was okay to do a 40 to 70 WOT pull. Wife agreed, disengaged the wife brake and took off...

I asked her if the car felt different on acceleration (full well knowing the car is a beast). She said she was not only pushed back in the seat, but was also lifted off the bottom on the seat. LOL!!!
