06 c6 manual trans hard to get used to?
Hey guys,
Just pulled her out a couple weeks ago and feel like I'm just not used to the clutch but maybe I'm just looking for something to be wrong?
I find starting at a dead stop is very hard to take off smooth without feeling the engaging and into 2nd gear.. Ive tried different rpm's and different speeds at engaging and disengaging the clutch. clutch response is at top of the clutch stroke , Im hopeing its just me and not the trans.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Assume this car is relatively new to you? Yes?
Many owners complain about the clutch on the C6 not engaging until the top of the stroke. Most say you will get used to it after you drive it enough.
Make sure you keep up with your clutch fluid maintenance via the Ranger method:

To add, the clutch assist cam spring and leave the actual feeling of the clutch engagement at a lost to new drivers.
See if you can get used to the blind clutch pedal feel of all assist spring, and if not, then change the clutch assist spring from a C6 model, to a C5 spring model instead (less spring assist, and you can better feel the clutch engaging point on the pedal, instead of mostly clutch spring assist pushing the clutch pedal back up only.
C6 on the left, C5 on the right,
And where the spring is on top of the clutch pedal,

Another thing to try is to hinge your foot off the heel on the ground rather than trying to control the clutch with your entire leg. This allows a bit more precise control using your ankle, not leg. Just for fun, I also tried the C5 spring, since it was only an $8 mod. I like it better...not a huge change, but better.

Yes car has 35k on it and I have done the c5 spring mod, flushed the clutch reservoir few times yesterday and fluid seems to look clear now.
I even ordered the MGW short throw to hopefully make everything a little easier.
Thanks everyone,

Next time, give all this kind of info in the original post...helps others give relevant info in replies.

Changing the C6 to a C5 spring helped quite a bit with my '06, but I still wasn't as smooth with it as I wanted to be. It just seemed the clutch wanted aggressive starts, where it was excellent. Easy starts--not smooth unless I rode the clutch. The tranny and clutch on our '13 Civic SI is as smooth as butter. Obviously, a lot less power to deal with. I've heard the later year C6s improved a lot, but still went with an A6 on my '13. If the Vette matched the Honda, would have kept it M-6...
