[Z06] Who built your LS7 ?

Stupid question...how do you guys know the exact date the engine was built?
I can't find anything on the engine, build sheet or sticker that would lead to the exact date that so many people are posting.

If you look at the front of the drivers side head, behind the alternator, there is a sticker attached to the head that has the engine build code on it. Someone here posted a guide to read that code (just like a VIN decoder). That'll give you the build info.

Thanx slowryde.
eaglei, if your still kicking around here, can you fill me in on the details of my LS7?

If my research is correct, I've only gotten April 27th, 2012 out of that. Am I correct?

Leaping 427!
Since 2012 was a leap year, your Julian build date of 117 is actually April 26th. It was built on Wixom A2 build line and was the sixth engine of the day. My guess is it was your builders first or second engine of the day (depending on how many were working on A2 that day).
May it serve you well!

Very close by my reckoning.

New to ZO-6 group
I bought a 2009 BLK/BLK ZO-6 a month ago with 4300 miles. I think the car is awesome and I still feel the C6 ZO-6 cars are some of the best looking cars in the world. For the $ they are hard to beat in all respects. Comfortable and pretty fast even stock. I see many complaints about the valve guide issues and it figures Chevy won't do anything about it. I knew about those issues but I'm not really intimidated at all. And it gives me an excuse to pull the heads and maybe send them to Lingenfelter and do the 660 hp package. I'm already looking at upgrading to a better clutch while I have the exhaust off too. Just possibilities. Interesting to read all of your posts. It's been a long time since I've been posting on here. Let's enjoy our cars/modified while we can. Hillary already has plans to ban all modifications to our fun factor cars out there due to so called EPA concerns. Just all BS.

Dad when was I born?
Here's what I see in your crystal ball....
H61 = Long block LS7 (H61 is used for all long blocks regardless of year built)
32 = Built at Wixom on A2 build loop
273 = Julian date September 30
1 = A2 (again)
3 = 2013 calendar year built
01 = Build sequence number, first long block engine from A2 that day
FYI: Long blocks were built without builder name tags because they were built without intake manifolds. So if you are looking for a builder name tag you will probably not find one. However some were built with the name tag taped to the valley cover but that was not the normal method.
Rock and roar hootchie koo!

Tag! You're it.
If I had access to the build sheet for your H61 I could tell you who built it. But I cannot get to those records. Not sure where the records are, perhaps at the new Performance Build Center in Bowling Green.
In any event, may the power serve you well!
