Default What's the cheapest thing about your Z?

I am crazy about this car and it is without a doubt the best ride I have ever owned...and I have owned a bunch. But I have one little, tiny rant/annoyance. I can't believe GM put such cheap vinyl crappo shift boots and ebrake boots in this car, and I even have the 3LZ leather wrap. I have solved the problem by replacing both boots, as well as the ebrake handle and shift **** with very high quality leather replacements from DS Vettes. They did a nice job matching the leather and stitching from the dash and rest of the 3LZ interior. It looks like it should now.

What do you think is the cheapest item on the car that annoys you the most, that GM would do well to correct???

I am in agreement with your gripe. I think they gave us an inferior quality leather seats. I also have the 3LZ and I wish they added another 1k to the package and gave us better seats.

I agree,Interior trim pieces on my 06 need help, which i am working on,but also the sound system.I have Nav with BOSE speakers and I believe most of the issue is the speakers with lack of sound quality overall.I never was a fan of Bose speakers, even in a home theater system for its lack of Bass and overall sound quality.Anybody know the stock amp specs in these systems.?

The seats are a joke for a car of this performance potential.

The ash tray door on my 06 is a joke! Flies open on bumps, looking to solve that with buying the slightly improved 08 console.

........I have to say that the tires are. I'd like to see them fit a tire on the Z06 that (during the course of normal driving) had 10/32nds to start with and normally last for at least 20,000 miles.

One other gripe is the cheap flimsey thin plastic handle which you use to alter the position of the seat backs............

But they are still TEN TIMES BETTER than the seats in the C5Z, so at least GM is going in the right direction!

You make a good point. I wish GM offered upgraded seats as an option. I would certainly pay the premium and with GM's buying power, we could get the seats cheaper than individuals buying them aftermarket. Sounds like a win/win to me--GM makes a little on the deal and we get volume pricing.

Sign of the times I guess. The C4 and C5 boots were leather. I guess they put the cost savings back into the motor and the exhaust valves. .

my biggest gripe other then the completely cheap interior is the fact that this is the first car i have owned WITHOUT express UP windows. it is annoying to hold the button to bring the windows up. it sounds stupid but i have become accustomed to having it.

It really bothers me that the side bolsters on the seats are not leather.

Seats are my biggest gripe.... no question. GM already has better seats in its fleet that they could just swap into the vette. The seats in the new Camaro are much nicer.

The whole interior design to me quite frankly looks like straight up ****. Man I feel sorry for the Viper owners, anyways my friends 2008 Honda Civic has a WAY better design. Even the gauges are 10x better. WTF? Seriously though. And since were speaking about cheap stuff let's leave it at that. Don't want to hear performance this or performance that.

Z06 compared to other NEW vehicle interior designs =

I mean for the love of god, my friends 1999 trans am looks better.

If anything I'll tell you this, Caravaggio is the only man that can save the Corvette from it's interior cow dung design.

Oh, wait I could have sworn that was a corvette interior. Sorry for keeping it real, But I have to. The corvette is far off the present standards of a car interior. It's still livable though. Could have been worse. It's okay if you settle down in it for a while I guess you can say.

For those of you with the 3LZ - would you go with 2LZ and go aftermarket to fix if you were to do it over again?
