LS7 FAST 102, does it work?
From what I remember, when the FAST 102 first came out, there was a lot of debate if it made any power. I saw some dyno charts showing it making power, and I saw others where it didn't seem to do much.
I had a chance to bolt on a FAST 102 "loaner". Since I was recently testing headers (THANK YOU J&J Performance), it seemed only natural to keep the testing going.
My combo was as follows:
Stock milled heads .030
Bronze exhaust guides
Solid stainless Ferrea exhaust valves
Ragin Racin punisher cam and complimenting springs
Smith brothers 3/8 pushrods
Morel link bar lifters
Mahle 11.5:1 forged pistons (lighter that the stock ones BTW)
Arp head bolts
Arp 2000 rod bolts
Stock rods reconditioned by Crower
Aviad trap door oil pan insert
Lingenfelter zr1 twin disk clutch
Tick master cylinder
Ported throttle body by Jeremy Formato
Vararam intake
LG 1 7/8 headers
Modded stock mufflers
Yella Terra roller rockers
The only thing we changed was the intake, a box stock unported FAST 102. We werent expecting much really. I though maybe some midrange gains and nothing on top.
Here is what we got:
To make sure the weather was covered, here is the conditions for both runs, not too far off:
GREAT gains to say the least. The FAST 102 made POWER everywhere. Needless to say, the "loaner" intake will be staying, and I'll have to replace it...
Soon, I'll reinstall the LG 1 3/4 headers I have, to make one final comparison!! I predict the same peak power, and huge midrange gains!

I haven't done only the 102 TB, but from what I have seen it seems to pick up 6-8 hp...of course that is going to depend on the over all setup as well.
One thing I did notice is that the cars seem to be much easier to drive after the 102TB.

Wow I wouldn't have expected as much torque as you picked up. Nice gains.

I got 7rwhp from the NW102 TB.

A couple weeks ago I bolted a NW102TB onto my FAST intake, didn't bother with dyno runs, but I can tell you it sure is WAY more responsive (which was my main motivation for doing it). When I stab the throttle now (with the hood open in the garage) you'd swear I had a mechanical throttle linkage that need some oil, thing seems to really be grabbing some big air
Cheers, Paul.

Here is what my 2008 Z06 gained with the FAST102 and NW102 combo. My mods before the FAST were E85, Halltech Superbee 102, SW 2" headers, ZR1 injectors. Peak numbers with the FAST are not that great, but I got as much as 20 rwtq under the curve, and 18 rwhp in some areas.

I'll find my dyno chart later. Looks almost identical. 7hp peak gain, 10ft/lbs torque with a nice mid range gain. Now if that is worth $550 is another question but it does help.

Seriously though, when it comes to a hobby/passion there's no quicker way of wrecking it than to fixate too much on the expense...and consider this comment is coming from a professional cost accountant

- E85 picked up 14 peak rwhp and 16 ft-lbs
- Stainless Works 2" headers picked up 20 rwtq throughout most of the rpm band, and 17 peak rwhp
- ZR1 injectors because my stock LS7 injectors were over 100% duty cycle.

At least with headers you get a nice sound....fast/nw rn for $2k and a whopping 20ft/lbs TQ 5hp I'll pass
Just put it towards a blower or nitrous then will feel the difference instead wo.seeing if you do....all my .02c
If you ate s road race guy obviously the above doesn't apply and it'll be a helpful addition.
