06 Recall
Had no clue there was a roof recall for the 06 until someone mentioned it in someone elses new purchase post here.
I called GM and they checked and mine, that i bought used, has not been serviced for any recalls.
I called the local dealer and they said they only change it if it needs to be. As far as i can tell my roof is fine, no noise or rattles no sign of it being loose at all.
I hit 142mph recently on the highway ( before learning of this recall ) and it was perfectly fine through bumps, dips and turns.
Is this a mandatory change or is it only if it needs to be?
Anyone done this recall already?

That is one recall that definitely should be done on the 06. Mine had been done on my 06 before I bought it. Many documented incidents of the roof flying off. Make sure your dealer knows what they are doing.

Tell the dealer to put that in writing, then when it flies off, hits a motorcyclist and kills them, they can handle the liability.
They need to replace it ASAP.

I have an '06 and after I heard about the recall I kept an eye on the roof for any signs of separation. I couldn't find any. Then, leaving a stop light one day, I heard what sounded like a backfire..... trying to figure out how that could happen under acceleration, I glanced in the rear view mirror and could see a guy in a van picking up something from the road. He followed me to a restaurant and asked me if I was missing something. I never even noticed the roof panel missing as it doesn't show from inside. Geez.... how to feel stupid... So obviously, it doesn't require high speed to remove it.
GM fixed it and aside from some of the rubber being folded all is good.

When you realize the panel is delaminating, it will probably be to late. Don't take the chance of thinking it won't happen. It will. If the dealer is that uninformed, then he isn't the one you want doing the repair.

Not just the Z06. The roof on my 2006 coupe popped AFTER it was supposedly fixed by the dealer. I only took it in as a preventative measure. I never had it on the car (bought the car new - always ran the transparent top). It de-laminated on the way home and ~80 MPH. They had to replace the whole roof after that.

If you do a search, you'll see why it's important to do the recall. Mine popped after 2 years. Plenty have been done. It's not a TSB, but a recall for a reason, despite what the dealer says.

Yep it's a recall and needs to be done.

I got some GM recall notices on my 06's roof panel but did nothing about it, as looked fine. One day at the gas station, noticed the back corner lifting, so was dealer time. They ordered a new panel, and installed it next week. I'd make sure to get yours replaced.
