Default 2013 brings the ULZ 700 3.9 project

This is my project for 2013. 3.9lbs/hp is our naturally aspirated ultralight build, without sacrificing performance or street manners, with looks to kill, and totally stealth to the untrained eye.

We have a new ZL1 intake to build at Katech next year, and a C7 intake in CA as soon as the C7 arrives. In the meantime, a trip to Katech will put our ULZ700 from crazy fast to insane.

My Dad always told me "You have to like what you're doing." and I love my job, but man there are few things I wouldn't do to be building/engineering cars and parts like you guys do.

You got that right. My 87 C4 did not stay stock for long, and we have had a new Corvette nearly every year since then, up and until the C6Z06, which is the coolest looking car on the planet and has been a project car now for almost 8 years. Even if the C7 brings new ideas to the table, it will be impossible to beat the absolute car the Z06 is right now.

Some ideas fall short, some hit the mark, like our GT2 Carbon Hood, with 26 sold. Guess what? Every part I design, or fabricate for our car, satisfies me personally, which is all that counts in my world.

Wondering if you can do anything with the seat tracks, window glass, clutch pedal assembly, brake pedal assembly, hoses, pulleys, Tie Rod ends, etc. I assume you already have the lightest wheels and rotors you could find and would also assume you are not longer using run-flat tires. Just some thoughts and I am sure you have visited all these before, but maybe they are worth a second look.

I have to hand it to you, Jim. Judging by your vehicles and your business, you have style and class. I just wish I had more money.

We were looking at that when installing the Caravaggio GT Race seats. That would be possible, but time consuming.

I have started this new thread, since most of these ideas have been pondered or acted upon over the past few years of our build, or during our build off against Katech. That thread is up right now but too many pages to go through for most new members.

Any plans to do the new rear CF fenders a little wider than stock Z06?

About two minutes ago that thought occurred to me. It would make development longer and more expensive, but it could be done.

Why, would you be interested in wider flares? Wider tires? Looks, Just curious.

Do you save any weight there? I thought I saw them say like 8 or 12 pounds in weight. What is GM one?

That is on our short list. The Tilton is the lightweight, but it requires their proprietary flywheel. I already have a OS Giken lightweight flywheel/clutch that weighs 28 lbs. vs. 56 lbs stock.

Even Jason is excited. Our cam is supposedly -15 HP vs. the Torquer 110; the cam we are going to use has been used already on a BIG motor and added +40 RWHP all by its lonesome vs. the Torquer.

The problem is testing. I am looking for 7100 rpm and this cam has not been through their Spintron testing, yet.

Even if we see 20 RWHP, 10 from the CR bump, which is what we have seen before, and 10 or so from the heads at the .660" lift, that +40 is going to be stupid power. Generally I hate power that cannot be used, but there is always 1/2 throttle right?

Sometimes it is fun to go sideways in front of the Porsche GT3-RS 4.0 at 80 mph just briefly, to let them see you clean off the tires when they come to close. If that doesn't work, a good 15 car length pull in third and fourth will calm them down.

Thanks Seb. I have decided on my next victim:

2013 RUF CTR3 Clubsport

750 HP 1380 kg (3042lbs) 4.056lbs/hp

This should be quite the challenge. The car is a work of art to be sure.
