Default Minimum parts for the fix?

My friend, a former GM tech, is a teacher now at nearby auto trade school. He has offered to pull the heads and check/replace the guides, valves, etc. All labor free of charge. Assuming some of the exhaust valves are out-of-spec, what are the minimum parts should I provide to accomplish "the fix"? Car has 40k of fairly easy miles but it is modded with a tune. Should I throw new springs in on a stock cam? Thanx.

Thats awesome. Hopefully you don't need to do anything. But if you do...

Springs would be dependent on your choice of valve material. If you're going OEM the LS7 springs are fine.

Jed Blanks posted up something awhile back.

You might send him a PM and see what he has to say.

Good luck.

So I figure new guides also for the exhaust valves if they are out? And I might as well replace them all?

I think they are cheap enough to replace them all since you have them out anyhow. Inspect and reuse the intakes.

What is your friend doing for guides? Bronze or PM?

I guess stock guides wouldn't be good. What's the best?
