Steering rack moved to the side, and HB bolt removed.

It took a 4' cheater bar on a 1/2" drive breaker bar, and it flexed a good foot and a half before it snapped, but it did

Working the next 3 days full, so ill try and get the HB off sunday afternoon.

My AHP done heads have been on my car for the last 5 months, car is running perfect no issues.

Hit the track last weekend with it, I was a little rusty out there but still got the car into the 10's over 132mph.

The car's solid. I did the work myself also just take your time everything should go back together well.

Hi Kohle, you have an email from me please reply when you can.

I don't have a choice LOL I work way to much. My goal is to beat the rain and I'm way ahead of schedule.

Plan on getting all the cam stuff done and radiator back in and mostly buttoned up before the heads get back.

My MSD will be here in a few days as well.

Still have stock engine mounts? Now is a good time to check them BEFORE putting your heads on if you see issues with them way easier to change them out now.

If you kept your engine at stock height (no lowered mounts) report back when you get the MSD on as to how it fit under the cowl and the water pump area.

Still stock, but zero drive ability issues that would be related to said problem.

Well versed with busted motor mounts.

Rented/borrowed my Napa HB puller. Popped off easy peasy in 10 minutes after work in the dark with a flashlight lol.

Hardest part of the rebuild is now done and behind me.

Its just the easy technical stuff now.

Speaking from experience on this issue (MSD and clearance) I can say that with the stock mounts that the fit of the MSD intake is very tight under the cowl. The intake does fit but what doesn't fit very well is the PCV line that runs behind the intake.

Unlike with the factory manifold it will not fit between the firewall and manifold so it sits on top of the back of the manifold and gets pinched between the manifold and cowl.

I discovered this when trying to install the modified engine covers that Tony Mamo did for me and the passenger side cover just would not sit properly on the back of the motor because the PCV line was in the way. I spent a good hour trying to get the line tucked away behind the manifold like it used to run and I could not get it to fit. Bear in mind this is a semi rigid line so it's not possible to flex or bend it very much to make it comply.

To solve the problem I bought a couple of feet of heater hose and connectors and redid that section of the PCV line. It now runs cleanly out of sight behind the manifold and the cover fits perfectly. In fact after I fixed this I realized I had had a vibration in the cab from where the original PCV line was sandwiched between the cowl and manifold that is gone now.

I wasn't sure if this problem was unique to my car since not every car is exactly the same under the hood for clearances so at a recent car show I was able to find two other cars that had the MSD intake installed and sure enough they all had this same issue with the PCV line sitting on top of the back of manifold.

.

My 06 has the softer rubber hoses, the large and small hose.

No hard PVC

A trick with hard pvc lines is you can insert in a piece of silicone tubing inside the pvc and use a heat gun and mold it into any shape desired.

The inner silicone tube is just inserted to keep the tube from collapsing at bends, then removed when the line has cooled down.

Hmm good to know. I might try this to go back to a closer to stock approach.

Great trick. Got one for removing the fittings without cutting them off? Or using a knife at all? Can't insert the hose without removing the fittings.

Yeah, that's a good point.

When I did my MSD install, I resigned myself to the fact that forcing the stock lines into submission at odd angles was a bad plan long-term (they will eventually crack - heck, they will do that on their own over time without any help).

I ended up with a mix of retaining as much of the stock lines and fittings as possible, coupled together with PCV hose - worked out well (no leaks) and looks ok.

I ran black 6-AN everywhere. I keep the stuff around for other needs, so already had it. Had to buy a couple fittings is all. Would be stupid expensive and completely overkill if one had to buy everything. Looks OK.

You mean the silicone tube that goes in the ID to prevent kinking when bending?

If so I'm sure you can get a smaller tube inside, and use caution with your heat gun. One could probably heat and bend without a inner ID tube if careful.

Here is what you can do bending plastic tubing.

So how did you get your cylinders and pistons so clean? Looks good!

WD40 and a wood flat chisel to scrape the deposits. Then a small brass brush. Used a dull screwdriver to take off any carbon in corners.
