Default Which Intake for Boost?

What Intake is better for Boost? Stock Intake Manifold or MSD? I know the FAST wouldn't be good from recent reviews, but haven't heard much about MSD and boosted applications.

I went through this same debate. Ported MSD will likely pick up some power at slightly lower boost, but not worth the cost. Stock works fine unless you're 1000+ rwhp. Semper Fi

I would say it depends on the combo, how much boost, and how much power you wanted to make.

For most cars running 6-10 psi of boost I don't think an intake is going to be that big of a deal as far as power level is concerned. I would say something like a FAST intake would help pick up some torque when the car is not in boost, but again not that big of a deal.

We id back to back on a D1 blown LS7 with a cam running 14-15 psi of boost between stock and a Holley high rise intake and it lost HP and TQ below 5000 RPM but picked up 50 hp by 7000 RPM. I'll try and see if I can find the graphs comparing them.

If you are making a lot of boost, 25 psi +, something like a sheet metal intake is going to help so the plastic doesn't blow apart.

Sorry it's by mph not RPM...lost tach pick up on the run but around 7000 rpm you can see almost a 60 rwhp difference with no changes other than the Holley high rise intake vs stock LS7...but a lot of loss through the RPM range.

This is the car for ref. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...torsports.html

Stock. I have no issue making well over 1000 on stock intake.

MSD you may make same at 1-2psi, but either way the power adder, fuel, or motor will limit the power.

Agreed. Run the stock one unless you require a sheet metal intake for high boost.
