Default Yella Terra rockers

Hey guy's, I'm installing a set of Yella Terra roller rockers on a pair of the stage 4 heads that I purchased from AHP. My question is there is 2 different flat spots on the shaft the rockers are attached to. This is where the bolt goes through, which side of that shaft points down and rests on the pedestal that the bolt tightens it to. I don't know any other way to explain it.

Also is it normal to have the back of the rocker so close to the head when its mounted? It's like 15 thousandth of space its very close but not quite touching.

Ok one side is square, one side is more round the square side is the pedestal side. you should have half moon shims and very thin square shims that lay over them.

And yes they will be very close to the valve cover surface area of the heads, but no worries they wont hit.

Ok great thank you 2fast. There is virtually nothing online that I could find telling me that and no instructions in the box. Thanks again.

Also I didn't mean the rocker is close to the valve cover but rather it is very close to the body of the head itself.

Really, my set of YT Rockers came with instructions (not LS7). Also are you running their valve cover spacer gasket kit?

Here is a video on assembling LS1 style rockers.

If I were you I would run a small spacer under the valve covers - it's the setup I am using.

I bought a set of Katech covers, if I keep them my spacer set up will be for sale. The YT supplied thicker gasket is a marginal solution, you can and will end up with the rockers brushing the covers (not good).

PM if interested.

This is the kit that Tony Mamo sold me when I purchased my YT Rockers from him last year.

Hey Brandon, thanks for the info as well. I think I got it now and I do have that larger gasket supplied by YT. They do say using their thicker gasket the top of the rocker will not hit the VC.

Double check your "wipe" on top of the valve stem. After I checked mine with one shim I realized I needed a second shim to get it just right, and I had to order them from YT in Australia. Took 2 weeks!

All I can say is with the rubber spacer, the valve cover position is very sensitive, and you will only know if they are touching if you use a mechanic's stethoscope.

Just providing the information, do with it what you will..

I ran the thicker gaskets on my old setup and never had an issue with rubbing in the YT

I had a set and the rockers were rubbing on the pedestal and the rocker cover. .625 lift on an LS7..........LME discovered the rubbing on the pedestals when LMR sent them the heads to be done. They did the required machine work on them and no more rub. So after I did that one of the rollers on a rocker went bad. Had a not too easy time getting YT to cover it. Later decided that I should just switch to CHE rockers and problem is solved.

Dan, I'm running YT on my LS2 with the YT rubber valve cover gasket kit with no issue. Tony Mamo now uses this set up on every head job he builds, so I trust that this set up is safe.

That looks good but your rockers are 1.7 where as the same rockers for an LS7 is 1.8. Just a wee bit bigger.
