Tadge says C7 Z51 will top ZR1
Quote from Autoweek:
Juechter says this new Stingray's performance figures will impress, including its stopping power; with smaller tires than on the C6, it will stop from 60 to 0 mph as well as today's Z06. When fitted with the Z51 performance package, the Stingray will top the supercharged ZR1.

I think he was only referring to braking, certainly not acceleration!

I don't care if it stops better than my ZR1, as long as it doesn't accelerate better than it, which it has as much chance of that as the taillights being changed.

There must be a misunderstanding somewhere. This does not sound right. Not even if he was talking about brakes.
I don't believe the C7 will beat the Z06 let alone the mighty ZR1.
The only place were I can see the C7 base beating the ZR1 is appearance wise and then looks are subjective.

60-0 braking may exceed zR1....this is more a function of the tire.
As far as exceeding the braking capability of the zr1 in track conditions, thats certainly not what he meant. What you in the hater crew should deduct from this, is that the michelin tires, despite narrower width, provide outstanding adhesion.
Yes, Buddha says Tadge is lying. Chief engineer lies on first details of c7 and thinks no one will ever find out....I can see the headlines....

when he said the C7 might be more heavy most everyone believed it, but now he is full of it? interesting.

Can't wait until the C7 hits the Ring. That will be the true test of performance I'm looking for. I don't see it besting the Z06 or ZR1 around it but I'm sure it will post great numbers.

15.5" carbon-ceramic 6 piston WORSE than 12.6" steel 4 piston?
That doesn't make sense to me.
Car is (according to this forum) heavier too??
It's no big deal to me-- I hope braking continues to get better on all corvettes (and sports cars in general), I just don't but it--why has no other high end sports car beaten the ZR1's braking with smallish steel 4 piston stoppers?

Perhaps the Z51's steel rotors will stop better from 60 when cold than ZR1 from 60 when cold. Just maybe. Don't those carbon rotors need some heat to work at full potential? With that in mind, maybe from 100 those carbon rotors heat up in time to outperform the Z51. Or maybe Autoweek misunderstood.

I don't think he's lying, there is not a direct quote from him regarding braking distance from 60 mph, 100 mph and absence of fade on a real road course. I think Autoweek may have misinterpreted or misquoted.
