Chrome is in bad taste. Unless of course you are wearing a white belt and shoes.

The early C6 offered chrome, polished, and painted at the same time. I don't think the C6 ever quit offering polished aluminum.

Default Trendy

Black wheels are very popular these days. A trend that will probably go away in few years. If you're concerned about taste and long-term appeal, go with the brushed aluminum.

If you're looking for a Present-Day appeal and an aggressive look, black wheels are a good option (I am not saying right or wrong).

I ordered a Black on Black with Black Wheels. A black Corvette for me is a first too (I usually only buy red), but I am only looking to keep the car one year or two max, so I can get away with the color combination before it goes out of style.

Agreed.

Might be a stereotype. But God knows its true.

I cannot name another sports car beside the Corvette & Camaro.. that still comes with chrome wheels as a factory OEM option. I would trade my chrome wheels for black wheels anyday.

Black wheels arent a trend.. and they arent going away anytime soon. The biggest reason why you see black wheels on so many vehicles is that their exact counter parts use black wheels on the racetrack. Go look at the C6R, go look at your Corvette.

Its pretty easy to see why black wheels & sports cars naturally go together. I dont think I've ever seen an actual race vehicle with chrome wheels. Even the 1/4mile guys use alloy wheels.. not chrome.

Chrome is for show.. Not for go.

Respectfully disagree - only my opinion, though. Black wheels as OEM mass-production are a trend. I have nothing against them. I already own a Wrangler, H2, BMW 645I, all with black wheels, and a C7 on the way. Obviously I like them. However, I believe aluminum colors in general will outlast other options long-term.

I think chrome can look good, but the $2000 is too much. I'll get the standard silver painted wheels (which I think look good) and in a couple of years when I'm getting tired of the look I'll use the $2000 I saved to get some nice aftermarket wheels. Also, Vette wheels tend to get nicked up since they have very little dish. Install some new wheels and the nicks are gone!

Black wheels only look "OK" on certain colors. On dark colors -- especially black -- they actually detract from the look of the car.

Black wheels are definitely a fad, so don't be surprised when they "look old" in a few years.

Chrome pops nicely on a Vette, especially on a darker color. Use your own good sense, rather than a few members here who ridiculously claim that chrome is for "old men only". They are only betraying their youth and inexperience.

Black cars look great when clean, the same with the black wheels. I considered the black wheels for my C7 Z51, but decided against them because of brake dust.
My choice would have been polished wheels, since they are not offered I went with chrome.

Traditionally, I have never liked black wheels. However, with the C7 with the vents painted Carbon Flash Metallic (metallic black) the black wheels are a natural, especailly if you go with painted calipers. I'm going with the black wheels:

(PS - I am an "old man" and I have chrome wheels on my C6)

Corvette is charging $2000.00 on Chrome, and silver as the base for a reason. They are trying to change the demographic old mans chrome look by keeping painted silver as the base. A monetary reason for old guys to give up the tacky chrome look.

I am not a fan of black wheels. They only look good on certain cars. They NEVER look good in motion.

I like chrome. I think chrome really makes white pop . And it looks nice and classy on black and dark colors.

But tis your car. You buy what you like, not what you think others will like. ( until its the others that are paying for it and driving it)

Agree. I was never a big fan of chrome wheels on new cars unless the car is trying to achieve a retro look. I do like the black wheels though.

We all have different tastes.

oh, what a shocker. Yet another thread of the black wheel dilemma....

unbelievable....

Amazing how people think that 'their taste' translates into the only right choice, and feel the need to crap on what anyone else might want.

I refuse to. If you like chrome...Go right ahead and get it. Same for black wheels.

Me? I am both 'old', and are getting black wheels, so so much for that theory
