Window Tinting - C7
#21
Yesterday I went to tint and clear Bra shop - they use Suntek film for the windows and also for the Clear Bra. I'm thinking about getting the front done at 80%, and sides at 40% with back at 30%. The Clear Bra I will cover the front end, including the hood, mirrors, and rear bumper - I don't want the film line showing anywhere.

Many states will not allow any aftermarket tinting applied to the front windshield (other than a strip at the top). A few people I know who illegally had their windshields tinted ended up having it removed due to distortion under certain lighting and issues with Polarized sun glasses.

Elleby 13 stated: "The windows come from the factory with 70% if you read on the glass. I went with 50% all the way around including windshield."
First I have heard about this tint standard - since my C7 is in the "Q," any idea where can I find that information, other than on the glass? Thanks!

If you are in a state that has max tint laws like TX (35% sides) you have to watch out. The windows on the C6 and, I assume the C7 as well, are already "tinted" about 70% (not sure the actual %.). If you put a 35% tint on them you actually have a 20 - 25% tint. Technically illegal, but I've had 35% film on all of my C6s and never had a problem with the LEOs. (But I do make sure I lower the window before they get to the car...)

Any chance you can take a close-up picture in the light of the rear window where the flags are? I wanna see how yours came out.
I'm not too happy with how my tint came out in that area; when you see it in moderate to high lighting, there's an obvious transitional line. I'm probably gonna take it back to see if they can press the tine on tighter or something, although I'm not sure how much better it can get.

Chose the ceramic film to insure that there would be no interference with any of the electronic in the car. The rear deck window was no issue as the film was laid down without any lines over the GM dots at the top of the window. >> The car looks good, film really blocks the sun and heat.
Paid a local firm $350 and it too about 40 minutes to install on all windows.
The sun shines in Georgia and the film is a big help in helping to keep the car comfortable on long drives...
