Missing C7 at Museum delivery. Chevy and Museum say rules are rules
When my C7 was missing on the Oct 8th museum delivery I had to rebook airfare for Oct 15th
Museum delivery was fine!!
Chevy customer service and Museum say no help with airfare. Rules are rules and if you don't like it Go elsewhere

I'm disappointed they did not help you with your airfare, since you booked according to their original schedule.
However, glad to hear your museum delivery went well in the end.
Congrats on your new C7!

For reasons I won't go into, I was almost in the same boat as you but lucked out, mostly due to the hard work of the NCM Staff. I would like to point out that we are all clearly warned in the letter confirming our appointment to buy changeable/refundable tickets.

Glad to hear you were eventually able to take your museum delivery. I'm sure you enjoyed the experience.
I knew going in, it would delay my delivery by maybe a month or more (if I had elected for it I still wouldn't have LoLa) so I opted for the album of her production from conception to birth.
Working through my dealer, I'll be driving a museum delivery customer to B/G in LoLa and I'll enjoy the delivery experience and VIP tour. And that customer will have one heck of an orientation and demo ride from Atlanta to the Museum for just the cost of gas VS air fare .

Manure occurs - it's just the way it goes. I understand your anger and I would be ticked too! But that is why they say what they say in the letter. That's why businesses also say allow 6-8 weeks for delivery...because it is possible it will take much longer than it should.

There's a lot of negative in your whole experience (wayward car causing total disruption), but it would be a shame if it overwhelmed all of the good aspects. I think I would try to just let it go and not let a few dollars cloud what should be a great memory.

They could have given you $100 gift card to be used at the gift shop. Chances are you would/could have spent several hundred in that place.
Win-win for everyone. You see the gift card as a little goodwill on their part, they make money because you spent the $100 gift card plus....

Its possible that your specific car, something was found before it left the temporary storage lot, for delivery to the museum, therefore requiring a change. Things happen and I know the museum does their best to make it all happen on-time, but things are not in their control until it gets to them.

I'm like most of the rest: I hope this doesn't color or taint your overall driving experience with your new Corvette. It is certainly a unique one tho, after trailing your car around the region via today's technology!
Considering the actual amount the Museum makes off a delivery, I would not expect a credit from them, especially since it's clearly stated in the letter (which I did not recall from my delivery years ago, but I'm glad Rad posted it for all of us). Still, there were options to make it right-er, imo. I just know they did an excellent job for the prep, the tours, etc.
I can't imagine why this happened, but it would have been a good idea for GM to issue that same, $100 credit/gift certificate for use at the Museum store. Truly would have been a small, but significant "win" for all.
Fortunately, this is a very rare occasion for something like this to happen---which is all the more reason that it would have cost very little simply because it doesn't occur enough to make it unreasonable.
Enjoy your car! And, besides aerial photos of it at random dealers on a truck---where are the pics of your car?

Another shining example of how no one takes responsibility for their own actions, be it the museum or GM. JMO

Well as the second post shows a letter detailing getting a refundable ticket I don't see why this is even an issue. Glad you finally got your car. Happy motoring.

Several Years ago I had a similar incident. I just went down to see my Corvette being built. I did some inquiring and the Assembly Plant called me back on a Wednesday afternoon and said my Corvette would be on the Assembly line Friday afternoon. So, I flew down and was there for the 1pm tour on Friday. No one knew anything about anything. In the end the lady that puts the Build Sheets in the cars spoke to me. She was incredible. She asked me where I purchased the Corvette. I told her. She thumbed thru the tall stack of Build Sheets. And she found it quickly. She told me my car would not be on the Assembly Line til late Monday or Tuesday. So, I eventually came home without seeing my Corvette. Please be advised that there is a lot more to this story but I wont go that deep here.
No one from Chevrolet Management ever said anything to me. I was willing to just spend the weekend in the area and wait til Monday or Tuesday. The airlines were super accomodating in allowing me to make changes and waived all usual fees. So were the Car Rental people. The only ones that didnt seem to care were those in Chevrolet Management. The workers on the Assembly Line were knowledgable as to what was happening as my Tour Guide was taking me all over the Line. Needless to say, I just came home without seeing my car. I explained this to the dealer when I got back home and they found my story hard to believe. I was there when the dealership owner called Chevrolet. At first Chevrolet said they would not reimburse me for anything. I simply said just cancel my order. I wont take this kind of abuse from anyone.
A couple of days later the dealer called me and said Chevrolet had agreed to reimburse me for my travel expenses. I did get a check from Chevrolet at the same time the new Corvette arrived. We dont live in a perfect world and crap happens from time to time. What was so irritating was Chevrolets Management people never said not one word to me that day. You know they had to know of this as the Tour Guide was taking me places looking for the car or parts of the car before we spoke to the lady with the Build Sheets. The Tour Guides attitude was you spent money to come down here, we are going to find your car or parts of your car. In the end its just a story. I made friends with other people that were there for the 1pm tour. They witnessed this whole thing. To this day those folks and I still stay in contact and they are from all over the country...

Although I'm not a big fan of the "museum experience" I think I have to side with them on this one. As I understand it the car was put on the wrong car carrier at the factory. The museum had no control over that.
Could they have contacted him earlier letting him know his car did not arrive as expected? Probably, but they did manage to contact him before he got on the flight.
Should they have given him some sort of free swag from the museum store or a discount on his museum delivery fee for his troubles? Yes, because they are essentially part of GM and the factory so it would have been the right thing to do.
I guess they realize that museum delivery is usually a one time event for most people so they are not too concerned with repeat business. Don't forget that the museum is basically a marketing arm for the Corvette brand, it is not there as a public service like typical museums.
