Default Just picked it up -- Question on wheel rubbing/Grinding

Finally picked up my new C7 a couple days ago. Love it!

Question: When I reverse out of my driveway (or any parking spot) and turn the steering wheel, there is a rubbing/grinding feeling in the front tires. Almost like the tires is hitting the inner walls. Then as I put in first gear and pull away, I have the feeling until the steering gets back straight. Once I am off and going, no problems. -- Has anyone else had that issue? Any suggestions?

Thanks

I think what you are experiencing is normal and caused by the wide tires when they are cold. It's been covered extensively here and is even mentioned in your owners manual. It feels like being in a 4 wheel drive vehicle in 4 wheel drive on the street and making a turn. This condition is really only noticeable when the tires are cold.

This question gets asked how often, at least twice a week?

It really needs to be its own sticky at the top.....

Interesting. I live in southern Arizona and as the temps are getting warmer - high 80's and heading to 90 this next week - I'm noticing it much more.

It's warm here in So. Cal but I only notice it when the tires are cold. It's not about ambient temps, more so the temps of the rubber. 80 or even 100* tire temps are still essentially cold tires.

Why in the hell sales guys can't point this out, I never figure out....I can understand them being stupid about infotainment details, but this happens to virtually everyone in the first day of ownership.....

I know but apparently many newbies don't know to look in an FAQ

Do you feel it only when the steering wheel is turned to full lock or at any position of the steering wheel(other than straight ahead)?

Actually Ken I think a sticky (as in a Post It note) on the steering wheel when it comes off the line at BG might be needed ... Or maybe not since they might decide to make it a permanent sticky on the visor next to the airbag decal

How about attaching it that that airbag tag they hang off the shifter?

(of course they'll do neither but it's fun to fantasize!)

My Dad's CTSV did the exact same thing.

My wife's Lexus IS350C does the same thing.

Also wears out the very inner edges of the front tires in 27K miles. Common issue with the IS attributed to design alignment. Sound like too much negative Camber but apparently wear is actually caused by the tires toeing out during stops.

Lexus puts a sticker in the window of their performance cars now telling owners not to expect more than 15K miles from the tires.

I did notice a dramatic decrease in the "chattering" with new tires. Same brand and size as originals.

Wonder what kind of life I can expect from my 2015 C7 tires if driven "normally".
