Blown up engine 5 month old Stingray
My engine blew up over 3 weeks ago (5 mos. old 5,000 mi.) . GM has been mostly unresponsive. The dealership Manager and Service Manager have told me their hands are tied and they can't help me til GM tells them what to do. Two days ago someone from the "Allegation Dept" told me I should get an "estimate" from the dealer and that maybe in a week they would tell me "what they thought happened". Meanwhile, my 2014, 5 mos old Stingray engine blew up the car had fire in the front and smoke out of all sides of the car and GM has been totally unhelpful. Apparently a rod blew through the block? The worst part of buying this American made car is that the department at GM that the dealer told me I had to call to open a "complaint" was answered by someone in India. Does anyone know how I can get GM to respond in a reasonable time frame?

How have you been driving your car? The computer's memory can be accessed. We know the number of revs and total hours are readily available. Did you get a tune? There must be something that is setting off flags?

I agree, Chevy Customer Service will be your best bet at this point. Give them your vin and info about your concerns here on the forum or call them. Open a case, get a case number and let them do the legwork for you. Over the years of Corvette ownership I have used them several times with great results, that's what they are there for...just like the name suggests, customer service. Sorry about your car and good luck with a fast, proper fix.

I had the car in the dealership a couple weeks before it blew up. I told them that it seemed to be riding "rough" or "missing". They changed the oil from original and told me nothing else was wrong! (Service Mgr. said several of his guys drove it and checked everything out and everything was fine. Couple weeks later the engine blew up when accelerating at 98 mph. Car is 5 mos. old with 5,500 miles on it. How do I reach Chevy Customer Service on this forum, please! I'll try anything! GM and Chevy have been almost totally unresponsive to me!

Being as your so distraught I'm sure you have pictures you can post. Being as it would be the first thing I would do for documentation and insurance reasons. I'm going to be more inclined to only believe this when I see them.

unless you work for GM or Chevy corporate you NOT believing me is not the most important issue in my life right now. A rod blew through the block at 98 mph and I'm not distraught in the least, no one died. That would have had me be distraught. I'm really pissed though that GM and Chevy don't seem to care one Iota!! By the way, I will post some pictures . Just so you'll believe me!

Dunno. Guy buys a car to drive and has the engine blow. He's gone to the dealer and to GM for some satisfaction. He hasn't gotten any.
So he searches for corvette forums and tries to get some help and advice (something I'd likely do also given his situation).
I'm not so quick to dismiss what he says. If the engine was running rough and missing before the incident and he took it into Chevy for some diagnostics, and nothing showed up, then the car detonated under hard acceleration, Scenario sounds plausible to me.
If there is evidence of misuse, it will show up in the computer or under inspection. If it is a parts failure, I hope GM fixes the car quickly for him.
