Mobil 1 Use ONLY

In the US, my information on 2 changes comes from the 2016 US Complete Care flyer (see below). For 2014-2015 the Complete Care flyer looked the same except showed 4 changes. The additional dry sump footnote came in 2015.
In Canada it may well be different.

I was going to ask about this later, when my next oil change is due. I took my 2017 Z51 in for it's 500 mile oil change, and quizzed them to make sure they were using Mobile 1. When they returned the car, they said they used Mobile 1 as promised (9 qts and one to go), but they said they won't be able to do that again. I told them we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
Their logic is that the cap says Dexos, not Mobile 1, so they will only use Dexos now. If I'm not mistaken, the caps have said Dexos since 2014, but previous bulletins have instructed the dealerships to use Mobile 1. At the time, I hadn't even noticed the sticker under the hood that says GM recommends Mobile 1, and of course that's what the manual says too.
I figure there will either be a new service bulletin that includes the 2017 specifically, or I'll just change the oil myself.
Cheers,
Rusty

Melting Slicks
A friend just had his oil changed at a local dealer who said they used M1. The invoice says 88865639, which is Dexos 1 5w30 (bulk). The same dealer installed the oil filter without checking to see if the old gasket remained on the car. The result was leakage that the customer discovered when he found an oil slick in his garage. Checking that the old gasket stayed on the filter is fundamental in changing engine oil. No damage but could've been worse.
I don't understand why we can't get better service from these dealers, but it seems even the routine and simple service trips are steeped in some sort of intrigue like this. I have no confidence that any of these dealers can perform even a simple task like an oil change correctly.

I called one of the closest dealers which is also where I bought my vette. I asked what oil they used in the vette. They said "whatever the car came with from the factory". I then asked, do you charge if I wanted mobil 1. They said yes. I won't be taking my vette there for anything.
I called a dealer that was on the "top 50 corvettes sold" list (penske). The advisor stated mobil 1 is all they use in vettes and no up charge. I didnt have to explain anything or show the mobil 1 only print out.
It's a shame I had to pass 3 closer dealers to get the correct service.

Thanks for posting the updated document! I do wish GM had taken a few more seconds to update the model years in the body of the document, and not just on the "models" line. They even left the subject line as 2014-2016. At least it says 2017 somewhere, and the tip line at the bottom says "any Corvette".

Yeah I agree... not sure of the logic or lack of it for not updating a document fully. Kind of a where's Waldo approach to writing.
I had posted this in two areas, one was a more current thread and I had mentioned if you get any flak bring attention to the "models" header as well as the use of "any" in the tip section as you mentioned. Sorry I forgot to do that on this one.
But in GM's defense they do send messages in global connect about updates and important changes. Unfortunately, employees don't always read the emails and even some managers. I've worked on countless computers and seen many unopened messages.
Not to mention GM sends us to training and has product trainers that go to the dealerships. Plus a yearly product certification test is required so I am really baffled by this lack of proper knowledge. But in my area in NJ/NY we really had great product trainers and that probably makes a difference.

I wonder how much money it costs the dealer to use Mobile 1 over Dexos. Probable no more than $5.
