Default On build your own Chevy site - roof options?

It seems all of the choices for a roof are considered options and carry extra cost? Why is that? What comes with the car if you leave the "No selection" button selected?

Coupes come with a carbon fiber, body color painted top.

The hang up is.......the standard body color tops have been on severe constraint since production started in 2013.

So, a lot of coupes are forcibly getting built with the "extra cost" transparent top.

Anyone know why a body colored roof would become a constraint? Aren't they as easy to paint as the rest of the car?

I don't think anyone actually "knows" why. The assumption is it is a supplier issue. The visible carbon fiber tops have also been on constraint so it must be a problem making CF tops that are blemish free.

The constraint has nothing to do with the paint, it's because the carbon fiber roof panel supply (whether painted or unpainted) isn't enough to meet demand. Though not everyone here agrees, it's my belief that GM would like nothing more than to be able to satisfy demand; the supplier simply cannot do so.
