I've just been notified by Chevy that my corvette has a targeted production week of March 9th. Does that mean production will begin on March 9 or just any day of that week?
Once production begins how long would it usually take for the vehicle to arrive at the dealer?
Could actually start on the week before (like Friday or even late Thursday. It takes about 2 days from very start to finish and 1.5 days from the frame dropping on the line until it drives off the line. Could be a car Monday or Friday of the 9th. Could be any day that week.
As for delivery, where is it going? If it close enough to be trucked all the way then maybe a few weeks. Rail has more delays. Also depends if your car is the first one at the rail head or the last one before the train leaves...I would say 2-3 weeks is a good guess.
Cooper Transport has 10 days to get the car onto a truck once it is released to shipping. Can head out anytime within that 10 days. They try to make a load that is headed to the same general area. My C6 was delivered to Dallas just 2 days after it was built.
If you are somewhere that is delivered by rail, that could add weeks (3-5).
My 2014 was shipped on the Friday of my TPW. Received it on the Saturday after the TPW. I live only about 4 hours from Bowling Green so it was trucked to the Memphis area. I had 2 months from the day I ordered until I got my car.
Contact the dealer who sold you the car. They can provide that information.
All cars coming west come by train. Your salesman will have the train car number. If you look here, there are telephone numbers of CSX and Union Pacific who delivers your car.
