Corvette C7 vs BMW 135i Boils Down to Manual vs Automatic

So lets say someone owns a Corvette, a BMW and appreciates all cars in general, are they still a *****? the same thing you said can apply to porsche, audi and most other manufactures that make amazing cars. Doesn't it annoy you when people say corvettes are for old geezers going through a mid-life crisis and couldn't afford a Porsche? generalizing works both ways.

Yes I am guilty of generalization. Generalizations exist for a reason; don't just appear in a vacuum. The Vette buyer's median age is 61. sixty friggin one! Social Security application paperwork, reading glasses, case of Viagra, and keys to a Vette.
Thus the generalization of the Vette as an old geezer car. It's true.
On the scale of cool-to-*****, the needle for BMW owners points at *****. In my limited experience, and IMHO

First, i never mentioned a vw cabriolet but that was a cool story. A Miata and a vw cab should never be mentioned in the same sentence. A miata is one of the best driving cars out there irrelevant of price. What does being a man have to do with what you drive?? I can borrow a chihuahua, a pink umbrella and drive a vw cabriolet and still be more of a "man" than most. If you think a car makes you more manly, you are mistaken.

Couple of points. Its not so much as whether an auto or manual is faster, rather which one is easier to drive consistently faster. The auto likely makes that easier to do. I prefer the challenge of a manual myself.
Second, the BMW obviously got to the finish line first. However it likely ran a perfect pass where as the C7 made numerous mistakes. The C7 lost the race more than the BMW won.
That C7 in its current form is faster than that BMW in its current form IF both driven to their capability. Heck my C5Z would have beat both in that race, but does it mean the C5Z is faster? Not really.

It is rather amusing how people take all this forum stuff so seriously.

Common sense....... THIS forum is for C7 enthusiasts, not BMW owners, so it is acceptable to provide negative opinions of other cars like BMWs. If someone doesn't like it, or also owns a BMW, then go back to the forum devoted to that car if you want nothing but warm fuzzies. Likewise if you're not enthused with the C7 don't post negative crap on the C7 here. As we've seen, those that try get crucified, and deservedly so.
Making negative comments and generalizations about BMW drivers or people is just dumb.

I am very enthused with my c7 so that's irrelevant. I was not looking for a warm fuzzy's about bmw, just taken aback a little by people making generalizations about owners By the cars they drive. I did not post or say anything negative about mine or anyone's c7. I don't need you to give me instructions on what I can post on this forum. You don't like what I had to say then keep it moving. I was not rude or disrespectful, all I said is that making generalizations about people based on what they drive is a dumb thing to.

my sincerest apologies. I was the only one who mentioned that maybe not all BMW owners are ******. I assumed it was directed towards me because I didn't see anybody else saying anything similar. My mistake. very sorry.

I think this is a fine time to lighten up this thread....

My last car was 335i N54 coupe, and I also had a 530i and 528i for DD's.
Nothing at all wrong with BMW's, they are fantastic driver's cars and a great brand for true car enthusiast. Pretty sure all this goes without saying. But I'm saying it anyway. On a Corvette forum.

This is true. My father once beat a C6 GS at the drag strip with a Ford Flex:

It just so happens my last car was a Z4 and I want to highlight the fact not one ounce of the BMW vehicle bashing here bothers me a bit. Have at it, it's not the BMW forum!!!
My old bone stock Z4 35 i with twin turbo would get trounced by my C7 auto in a 0-60 and 1/4 mile every time.

for the other comments about ugly bmw with ****** driving them,. I incidentally drive a E50 everyday (manual of course) and YEs I have always loved BMws (I adore vettes/LS powered ones with out a BIG DOME hatch Especially) and always joke about the ****** on the inside JOKE... oh and the expensive part,. I didnt need to own one (or 2 or 3) to know,. BMW are actually the cheapest to own,. You buy/lease one new and its $500 per month ALL inclued down to the tires, brakes, even washer fluid,...... and the interior and the Driving OH,,. Load up a slugish camry or accord and ITs as expensive and IT just does NOT drive anything like a Beemer (***** or NO ****** inside or outside of it)..
we are on corvette forum SO I say most of the ****** are Inside (of corvettes and this forum))
