I thought you had to have the Z51/Z06 to have the dry sump system? A "base" model would not have it, at least for 14/15 as I recall.

You're correct, I mis-read the op's question.

Say what? Dexos is a spec while Mobil1 is a brand. Mobil1 meets the Dexos spec as do some other oils. GM should, and does, specify the minimum specs for oil and not a specific brand.

Nope Dexos can be either a blended or full synthetic formulation. Mobil-1 is ONLY full synthetic and written in the manual as the oil that should go into the car.

Wrong. Try again. Read page 11-12 of the Owner's Manual. It specifically says to use oil meeting the dexos1 spec. The only mention of Mobil1 is for "track events or competitive driving."

P. 227 of the 2016 owner's manual states the following,

"GM recommends Mobil 1 ® engine oils that show the dexos1 approved logo for its dry sump equipped engines."

So although there are a number of Dexos1 listed oils the continued relationship between Mobil1 and GM continues at least for the dry sump engines. I am surprised they don't have the Mobil1 logo fill cap.

HELLO!!! Notice the word REQUIRED!

To: Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC Dealers

The 2014-2015 Chevrolet Complete Care Program for Corvettes was designed to take into account the preferred Mobil 1 oil choice of many Corvette owners. As a reminder, dealers are required to use Mobil 1 when performing oil changes on ALL 2014-2015 Corvettes through the Chevrolet Complete Care Program. Current reimbursement levels for Corvette are based on Mobil 1 usage. Please remind all personnel that only Mobil 1 should be used. In addition, please refer to GlobalConnect message # G_0000205212 for details on dry sump equipped (Z51, Z52, and Z06) Corvettes.

In the event a customer paid an upcharge for Mobil 1 under the Chevrolet Complete Care Program, customers should be directed to contact Chevrolet Customer Service representatives, socialmedia@gm.com, for assistance on reimbursement.

You can call the 800 number on the Mobil 1 pamphlet, that came in your owners manual, and they will send you a set of Mobil 1 stickers.

Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, huh? Requiring dealers to use Mobil1 for the free changes because that's what owners "prefer" is vastly different than what's required to be used to keep your warranty intact. Dexos is the minimum spec oil. Mobil1 is recommended for track use.

If GM required Mobil1 and Mobil decided to rebrand as another name, then what? There are good reasons they require oil that meets a specification and not a brand and name of oil.
