I noticed that I cannot turn the sound down on my stereo, or even mute it when in reverse. Kind of distracting having stereo blasting at level I had it at when I parked it and not be able to turn it down until I back out of garage.

Stereo controls on the console will not work while car is in reverse, use the steering wheel controls or turn it down before you turn it off last time 'round.

Any suggestions?
I have mine set to return to a default lower volume level when the car is started. No matter how loud it is when you shut the car off, it goes to the default level when you restart. See infotainment manual.
When I forget to grab my sunglasses from the dash cubby before backing out of the garage, I just hit the brake, pop it out of reverse long enough to drop the screen and retrieve my shades, then back in reverse.
