Absolutely 100% agree. I've seen it a few times and said the same every time.

MSRC > another on the long list of overpriced RPO's

For those that have it of course they are going to say it makes a difference and is worth it. The question is it worth the money answer no. If you do not get it you will not miss it, regret it or give it a second thought. Save your money.

OK, yes there is a real difference with MRC. It is an additional nanny layer for ride control. It will not over ride stupid but it can save your life. It also softens the ride over say Z51. So do you need it. Define "need". Remember the great 427 cars of the 60's and 70's none had MRC and who wouldn't want one. Todays C7 with 460HP is a beast and if you track or your driving pattern is very aggressive IMO MRC is needed and recommended. The car comes with advanced stability control so if your Corvette is a pleasure driver and occasional spirited fun driver you probably do not "need" MRC and can keep cash in your pocket. I have a 2015 Z51 and do not "need" MRC. MRC is a nice to have either way IMO but whether or not it is a "need" depends on how you drive your Corvette.

If all you're interested in is polishing and bolting on appearance pieces, you're right it's not worth it.
All anyone has to do is look at the video above of the two C5s (one w/ MSRC and one without) to see the dramatic difference in stability, which translates into additional grip, faster lap times, and increased safety. The ability to select between ride comfort or race track settings with the twist of a dial is simply awesome.

Melting Slicks
I had a 2014 non-z51 and it was a pretty compliant ride, but around corners it was too soft and would lean and wallow pretty bad. Certainly a tradeoff between sporty GT.
I didnt want the dry sump, brake dust, rusty rotors or e-diff on my '16, but I do like the Z51 wheels and spoiler so the MSRC option was a good fit for me. It certainly makes a difference, whether or not its HUGE that depends. There is a pretty substantial difference between track, sport and tour, at least to me.
I drive my car quite a bit and I like being able to change the car's dynamics with just the mode ****. If I'm just running errands or doing daily driver stuff the easy steering, soft suspension and quiet exhaust on tour makes the C7 a nice GT car. Click it over to sport and the steering and suspension stiffens up along with louder exhaust if I want it feel more like a corvette. Track is great for some of the local well paved winding mountain roads, once the trans goes into performance mode its a blast to drive.
Worth it or not? If you dont want the Z51 wheels or spoiler probably not. Its some cool tech though, for me MSRC is a better waste of money than the PDR/NAV

Thanks for the info, especially the link to all the other discussions. Based on browsing through the material my sense is that if one opts for the z51 package and a reasonable ride is still desired for daily driving it is almost a must have. If someone is going for a basic version and wants the smoothest ride possible, as it was put most eloquently, turn the **** to "wife" mode then get MRC in the base model as well. I am of course looking for the best of both worlds that may not be attainable, caddilac mode and sporty mode. Having a car smothen out rough roads sure would be nice.

I view it a bit differently.
I believe the base without MSRC is closer to "Cadillac mode." The softest MSRC setting is a bit stiffer than the base suspension w/o MSRC.
You are right that a Z51 without MSRC does not have a "Cadillac mode," and is considerably stiffer than the base suspension. After all, it's set up for occasional track duty.

That picture is both old and been posted here many times. It's also a rip-off price. They don't cost nearly that much. Below is an Amazon link for the C7 MSRC OEM front shock at $350 or so. Rears are also available for the same price.
It's around $1500 for parts for all 4, not well over $4K. Moreover, you're rarely going to need to replace all 4.
