Default Pros/Cons to Exhaust Tunnel Plate at high speeds?

I'm heading to the Texas Mile April 1st and currently I have been running around with out the tunnel plate for my Texas Speed headers. No particular reason, just haven't put it on.

I was curious if anyone knows the pros/cons, or if I should put this back on for the Texas Mile or does it even matter?

As for heat at track days would using this help or hurt for heat? I thought maybe it will take some heat away from the headers kind of like a heatsink does on a computer cpu/gpu but not sure. It's aluminum.

On a side note I'm looking for recommendations on something to wrap around my o2 wires near the headers just in case there is a possibility of melting.

My brother uses this on his TT S4 so considering this:

The plate is made to stiffen the car and limit the amount of air that can get under and lift the car up.

I was not aware of that! Guess I'll be putting it on then.

Definitely put it back on. It's a major structural member (both stiffness and strength), and it's aluminum with a LOT of bolts for a reason. This has unfortunately come up a number of times. Removing it solves no problems, only creates them.

Put on the TSP plate. Its designed to fit perfect & will give you the clearance you need for the ultra long tube design!

not to mention easy access to the O2 sensors, which for me is so nice.

Sounds good. I took it off initially because it was contacting the headers in the rear. Need to use the spacers.

OP - I'd put the plate back on. And I wouldn't worry about wrapping the o2s. You're not going to be in throttle long enough to overheat those.

btw - i got registered and will there running as well. Maybe we'll get a chance to meet. Always cool to meet some of the folks on the forum.

Just about to post the link. It's the Floor Panel Tunnel. There are two fastener sizes with unique values.

I do not recall two of them being different when I took it off. Wonder which two it is.

The two second from the front. They are larger. So second from the top in the photo below.

The Corsa Xpipe install instructions show them pretty clearly as well.

I had to go look at mine again because I remember the bolts all being the same. Turns out the one I have (from TSP) does not have those two larger ones. Even the plate doesn't have holes drilled for it.

When I First got my long tube headers done as part of my build from vengeance racing, there was no rattle, but sometimes at idle I also now am contacting the plate causing a rattle, where can I get the spacers? If it matters mine are the ARH LONG TUBE which I had ceramic coated inside and out. Was hoping for a solution To this it only rattles occasionally but when it does it makes it seem like something is wrong with the car, thanks for any info on spacers and install

highly recommend getting the TSP tunnel plate. I tried spacers for a while and it sucks. The TSP plate is worth every penny.

I answered your PM. It only rattles on cold start up. That is because after driving for awhile the heat welds the plate to your headers just enough to stop it from rattling. Then on a cold start up it breaks away and rattles. Ask me how I know.

I have the TSP plate with spacers. Still need spacers with the TSP plate. TSP actually sent the spacers with their plate.

TSP headers and TSP plate....no spacers needed.

and yes, they rubbed the stock plate and made the same noise I am sure you are getting. so much for ARH quality fitment.
