Default Oil change - base model

Did my first "not-free" oil change today. What's everyone using to get the drain plug out? My "normal" socket/socket wrench wouldn't fit in there. I ended up using a box wrench, but had to "extend" it to get the bolt loose.

I always use a box end wrench for the oil drain plug.

I'd be very careful with any oil drain plug that needed an extension to break it loose... that bolt is only supposed to be like 18-20 ft-lbs... not a lot of torque. Much more than that, and I'd be concerned about stripping the threads in the aluminum oil pan.

yeah....I think Hercules works at the dealership. Had issues with the oil filters bring WAY to tight on our Avalanche in the past as well. I have a special tool for those now, but this was my 1st attempt on this car. Thanks for the response!

I use a box end wrench, but also make sure it is a 6 point.
