Default C7 Z06 Tow Hook

I have been writing to everyone I could find an email address (which is difficult) to GM regarding only having tow hooks for exports.
Today I received the following email and I think some is listening:

Larry:

For the 2015 Corvette Z06, the tow-hook receiver is accessible without modifying the front fascia.

Sorry I don't have a better pic, but in this image you can barely make out the receiver just above and inboard the brake cooling duct.

Best,

Finally a Z06 gets a tow hook without having to take off he front fascia and modifying. Welcome to the modern day GM.

Thx.... Great info, I wonder if GM will include the tow hook itself. I had the receptacle on my CTS-V but had to purchase the tow hook itself from Cadillac at whopping $126.00. That annoyed me greatly since their competition includes it at no direct charge.

The tow hook is on a long bolt that clears the front of the grille for the attachment point.

My wive's VW Golf R came with it at no charge. I read on another Forum that Audi and BMW include one with their vehicles as well. GM seems to be the one who requires the owner to purchase one separately.

the mount is the main part getting the tow eye is the easy part although what would it cost them $4 a car more if that to include the tow hook

I agree with them making tow hook extra. Us track goer guys should be subsidized by the 99% of the owners who never go to a track. It makes economic sense.

Default Front Tow hook

I just put on a zo6 grill on my Z51 C7, I can't figure out where the tow hook goes, it seems like something is missing, the hole is too big and there is nothing to thread the hook into. Am I missing an attachment, do I need to take the front grill off to put this on? Thank you for your help.

The receiver is in the sheet metal behind the grill. They were on Z06 since the start. They were added to the Z51 sometime in December of 14. If your car was built prior to then, you will not have the receiver. See this tread: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...s-missing.html

Last edited by Boiler_81; 06-09-2016 at 09:44 AM. Reason: clarified Z06 had them since the start of production

I think I read somewhere that they added the option later in the C7 Z51 models but standard with the Zs.
