C7 Corvette Z06 Takes on Porsche 918 at the Strip
The hybrid hypercar Porsche 918 and the C7 Corvette Z06 are very different cars, but how do they compare on the strip?

You have a better chance of seeing God (and we all know that ain't happening) than any Vette beating a 918!

Meh, I've lined up against cars faster than mine. Still good, clean, American fun to let 'er rip and see what happens.

Sure it's a mismatch...but it's a real world drag strip match up. What I liked about it were the 'normal' results. No hero runs for either car. 10.05 for the 918 and 11.6 for the Z06...those are 'average' runs for 'average' drivers in both of those cars.

I don't think either driver has anything to be ashamed about - well, except that the Z06 is rocking vanity plates while the 918 is wearing whatever the DMV printed out...
Crazy that the Z06 makes it down the track that quickly w/ RWD; the man can hook up.
It's also crazy that street cars on street tires are doing 10's - 11's. Anyone who claims that the Z06 isn't a s**t-ton of car for the money is high.

No chance in the 1/4, but after a couple of laps on a road course; (meaning the 'juice' for the 918 front electric motors has run out), the Z06 would give it one hell of a run for its money.

thats the point and fun of racing... theres always someone outthere faster... the interesting thing is that one race is not one and done(at least for some types of folks like myself) .. the z06 can go out and run 20 to 30 times (or hundreds like my stubborn self) and hit a good air day once mastered launch and go deep into 10s ... the 918 is a done and ready to launch car...a driver cant do much better then the effort Porchse into this supercar...
thumbs up to both drivers for letting them rip without shame...

In addition to a plug-in charge port at the passenger-side B-pillar, the batteries are also charged by regenerative braking and by excess output from the engine when the car is coasting.

Pretty shitty run for the Z I think. Plenty of high 10 sec stock Z's that would make that gap a lot smaller. I do respect the 918 owner for having to ***** to lay his 1m dollar ride on the track. That could be one very very expensive wreck without insurance.

I kinda doubt it.

Btw, not too much "coasting" on a road course! lol

[yawn] Let's go for a spin at Nurburgring and my measly $100K track car will school it.

Where is that 9.8s MODDED C7!?
Fair Ball!
And very cost effective!
911 Turbos came easy for me, and they were part of my game plan buying!
