Default Selling non-Corvette items

As I understand it, some of you complained about a thread in this section selling something that was not Corvette related.

The thread was removed, some of you complained about the removal and that triggered a discussion among moderators.

If you are confused, it's no wonder as the moderators are confused on the issue as well. In fact, I just noticed a sticky thread in this section, posted by a former moderator, prohibiting the sale of non-Corvette items in the section. The rule was not posted in any other regional section. I'm not sure why it was posted here. I've deleted it.

Once upon a time, we didn't allow sales in the regional events sections. In fact, we often deleted any off-topic discussion as well.

That hasn't been the case for recent years, however, because we believe site users in regional sections are a community unto themselves and those communities should not be restricted to discussions exclusively related to Corvette events.

We also think that selling something in a regional section makes more sense than in a generational section in the case where shipping is an issue and a local pick-up is preferred.

Taking that a step further, we have allowed regional section posting of non-Corvette items and have encouraged people to use the regional sections for such items when they were posted in Off Topic or generational sections.

While there was some concern that the sale of non-Corvette sales might proliferate to the point of overwhelming the regional sections, that has not happened. If it does at some point, we likely would create a sub-section for non-Corvette sales in the regional sections where that was a problem.

I will speak for my self, but others may agree, I appreciate your forums review and don't think this will get out of hand.

You are very correct when you say that our regional sections are indeed a community within itself.
Many of us have come together on this forum and have built a long lasting friendship along with sharing the same passion, our cars, no matter what we drive.
We are also a close knit family, and come together, for each other, in the time of need.

Thank you, once again, and I have no problem with your administration taking action should things get out of hand.

Last thing I want to waste my time on is reading some garbage about a guy selling a used mattress, an iPhone, a tv stand, someome's old furniture including pictures and various other garbage or somebodies two hundred dollar used up Toyota. Not to mention the used computers and other various recyclable trash. The only reason people post it in the "real" section is because nobody reads the "trash for sale" section.
Junk, if it has nothing to do with Corvettes, belongs on Craigslist and not on the main forum.
Canada is not really regional. It is wider than the United States but without as many people. How about some actual Corvette stuff for sale on the main board instead of some TV mount 3000 miles away or somebody asking what cover they should use on their new iPhone? Geeze....

I believe the purpose of this is to stop taking up post in the discussion part, and rather you like it or not some find it useful. As well this isn't the car specific topic area, this is the general topic section to a geographical area I would agree with you if this was the Corvette Tech section just as an example.

Personally I see the valve in building a community within those that trust each other or can share if they were ripped off.

Building a community is fine and like the previous poster said, sharing info if you get ripped off is fine but do you you want to see a used mattress or some other garbage for sale on the main board?
Now we have raptors tickets for sale. Could be worse. Might have been seasons tickets to the Leafs....

SOLD, SOLD, SOLD!!!

Attached is a photo of a very rare Ron Fellows 1996 SCCA Trans Am Sunoco Camaro 1:18 Scale Model that I own.

Over the years, this has become a personal favourite as they only made 2504 examples and each model has it's own Serial Number.

In today's market, this model is worth $200.00 + as they are rare and those who have them don't usually part with them.

It is made by a company called GMP that is no longer in business however they are known for very high quality models.

If interested, send me a PM however I am looking for somewhere between $150 - $200.

Thanks,
Livio

Yes, and they are not for sale threads of children's pools in a Corvette Forum.

I guess my point was it's a Corvette forum and shouldn't be a venue for used mattresses, TV's or cell phones not to mention all the other garbage like tickets to some sporting event where someone is either dropping the puck or the ball.... I thought this was the Canadian section of Corvette Forum and not the Toronto section of Kijiji.

And my point is that people like dealing with people they know/trust rather than a stranger - don't like it, don't click it. Everything on the forum is not going to interest everyone.

Those who complain are just trouble makers and have nothing elese better to do, like you said, if it doesn't interest you don't click on it and move on.
I can hardly wait for the day one of those people tries to sell something here, and that day will come, good luck.

I advertised (2) vettes for sale here and the Toronto Crew thought it would be fun to BS around with several e-mails of interest from my auto trader ad and then the time CFCS screwed me down at my friends place in Milton...LMC. Some real winners here...I would not deal with most here.

GLWTS.

Well, I don't really agree with you there. I have been here quite awhile and have sold only a couple of items. My last sell here was last spring and was my 02 Z06 that I owned since new. I priced it right and it sold on the second day. I listed it in the "Corvettes for Sale" section where it belonged. I have bought numerous parts and services here also and everyone has been more than honest but it still makes me wonder how someone can post garbage like a used mattress, an iPhone or tickets to a really lame sporting event on the main forum. Beyond me. I don't have time on my hands to sift through garbage and one moron even wished me good luck trying to sell something here again....
I don't really care as I don't post anything here that isn't Corvette and never have. I try to abide by the rules that are in place. They are not my rules. I own four Corvettes and have been here a long time.
My idea of a guy with a Camaro avatar trying to tell me what will happen next time I post something for sale that is Corvette related and in the proper section is nothing short of a joke.
Here is the skinny.
We post our Corvettes or Corvette parts for sale in the right section as it isn't allowed on the main board. But, a used mattress is?
How about a used garbage section so we don't have to sift through this crap? Or change the rules. I didn't make them....
