Sunday, November 6th - Bancroft Loop
Short notice but a few of us are going to take advantage of the weather this weekend to do a loop around Bancroft. If you can find the time, come join in.
Date: Sunday, November 6
Meeting point: Tim Hortons, 146 Bloor St. E., Oshawa (exit 16 - Ritson Road)
Meeting time: 7:30am
Depart: 8:00am
Here are the route maps:
Before Lunch Route:

After Lunch Route:
https://goo.gl/maps/yUZwp4aWP7o
It should be a full day and I expect that we will be back to Whitby by 5pm.
This is not really a cruise as to be honest, I just want to go for a drive at my own pace and not stress about keeping everyone together. If the pace is too slow, I am more than happy to follow. If too fast, I have multiple stops along the way for folks to catch up and regroup. That said, I may skip a couple of stops after lunch. Here is what I had envisioned for rest/body breaks as the route does not go through many towns.
I would suggest you print off the route as if we get separated and for some reason can't regroup, you can continue the run at your leisure. I have been on some of these roads, referred to try some others and some are unknowns, but they seem pretty good from my google earth research
Here's who is in at the moment:
Faraz
Al
Max
Bryon
Frank
Dan and Heather
Jeff
Mike (pressman) game time decision
Les (allflash) game time decision
Couple other people that may also join
Don't forget that we turn back the clocks an hour on Saturday.
I have made reservations for noon for 10 people at Ash Grove Inn and can request more people so post up if you plan to come.

They serve an all you can eat brunch for $15.95.
Hope to see a few of you join in!!!

Put the car away this week or I would have met up somewhere along the line. Hope you folks have fun, roads have been dry for a while now, no sand or salt put down anywhere that I have seen.
Believe it or not there is still some colour left in the trees.
Enjoy.

Yes, thanks Faraz for mapping and organizing an awesome route today.
The food at the Inn was great.
I will contribute to the picture and videos once I get them offloaded and edited.
For those that asked about my radios today, I had just bought these inexpensive dual band two-way radios and was pleased with their performance. A bit tricker than FRS radios to setup, since you have to program the frequencies, but they are 5W instead of 0.5 and have upgraded antennas that offer better range. Technically you do need a HAM licence if your going to transmit on frequencies other than FRS.
I can help and share my programing file to any forum members who get these. Here is the link:

The battery it comes with is Li-ion which is much better than NiMH packs or Alkaline AA or AAA. It lasted the entire day today, was on except when I was out of the car.
It only comes with a AC dock for charging but bigger batteries and car chargers are available. No USB plug.
