Default trying to track my vettes original owner
Hey guys,

New to the forum but i just bought a 2014 c7 z51 from bennett GM in Cambridge Ontario. The deale

r can not give me the inidviduals name just that they were an active member in a vette club in the Toronto area.

I have atatched a pic of the car which is a 2014 c7 z51 and the old plates he had on her...

Hoping i can track the owner down so i can ask him about the cars history and if anything was done to her.

From my understanding this person

just bought a new grand sport so hoping someone here can help me get in touch with the old owner without me having to go and stand in line at the MOT for a few hours to get a used vehicle package

Order the used vehicle information package online.

You don't have to stand in line for hours and you'll have it in a few days.

Does the used car package give the names of all previous registered owners?

Just be prepared to hear what amount they gave him on trade - vs. what you paid.
But I believe dealers deserve to make a decent buck on trade ins - so I hope you don't give it much concern.
I'd like to hear if you'd share - cause I'm likely going to trade my 2011 coupe this summer.
And so I'd like to know if he got just Blue Book - or something closer to retail.

You should consider the PO may not appreciate your connecting with him. Privacy laws are there for a reason, and some people get pi$$ed when you circumvent them.

For example, you are showing his plates on a public forum. Yes, I know every time we drive our cars on the road, our plates are in full view, but connecting our name to those plates is another matter altogether. My name can lead to my address, to my phone number, etc...

He/she may even go back to the dealer and try to drag them into the muck.

In the end, only time driving the car will tell you what's been done if anything. It is a used car and if you have any warranty then that's a good thing, but otherwise the PO doesn't owe you anything...

i understand what you are saying Jack, not sure i would be flashing the plates around tho. but he can go to ministry and pay to get the package and will tell him everything he needs to know. not sure i would be dragging out on a public forum tho.

The used Vehicle Information Package (UVIP) includes:

Description of the vehicle
Vehicle Indentification Number (VIN)
Plate Number
Year, Make
Model
Colour
Body Type
Cylinders
Power
Status
Brand
Ontario vehicle registration history
Odometer information
Outstanding debts (link to liens) on the vehicle

The part underlined is the registration history which will show where the vehicle was registered - I don't think it includes previous owner's names...

I could be wrong though. Anyway, think about what you're posting in the light of whether you would want it out there as your guide...

I know I've seen earlier owners addresses - if not also names - on some type of reports.
Maybe this info will available if he buys one of those accident reports like a CarProof?

The used Vehicle Information Package used to list names of previous owners but I haven't seen one in a number of years now so maybe the government recently changed the information listed.
