Corvette Roller or "white" Body Interest
Would 50 you guys be intersted in a Corvette Rollor or 'white body??
Roller could come one of two ways - full chassie with engine, drive train, suppensions - everything BUT the body and interior, or without engine.
the "White" body has the white primer body and partial interior. No seats, Just dash and gages, NOT street Legal, to be built up as a race car.
Most likely a ZO6 Body on a steel frame with the only option would be with or without engine. Most likely a LS2 not LS7 engine.
Two factors here ALL 50 MUST BE idential and sold or deposit made prior to production. Next which Chevy is working on is the FIA hologation of the aluminum or preferably the new compsit material chassie of the SS.
Price ?? TBD
Chevy made 35 White Body FRCs in 97 or 98 to help start the Motorola Cup then made 15 more later that year.
If your interested Let me know. Mr. Wallace and I talked about it at the NCM event at Putnam Park. Mr Wallance mentioned that they were very seriouly talking about this option.

sigh... probably can't afford this... I don't have a truck/trailer at the moment...
God I wish I could. If I could afford the car, and could get it to my garage, I'd work on the truck/trailer issue later. So I guess it would depend a bit on money.

Am I right in speculating that the benefit here isn't
so much in the price savings as it is in the reduction
of disassembly and modification of things like wiring
harnesses?
Was there any discussion about track-specific enhancements,
say frame reinforcement or suspension point changes?
Or is the idea that these will be OEM vehicles that
bypass certain stations along the assembly line?
Also, would any be available for export?
I would consider one under the right circumstances.
My first choice would be a body-in-white roller with an LS2.
My second would be B-I-W roller, sans engine.

NOTE: for those of you who want to know what one of these looks like (ie how much work you would have to do) there is one sitting on the showroom floor of Kerbeck Chevrolet in Atlantic City, NJ

Is the Kerbeck unit a promotional 'Ghost' car?
Or is it a prototype for a Homogulation run ...
I wonder whether someone from Kerbeck would provide some
images.

That is correct, for the White Body, many of the steps preformed and pieces are not put in. ie. No interior, carpet, insolation, radio, seats air bags, NO AC condenser, NO extra bumper foam and saftey items.
The car is NOT for street nor street legal but use but to be built into a race car by the purchaser.
Export would depend on that contries laws on how to import race cars or partial cars with out engines.
No specfic track enhansments, but that is how my disscussion came about with Mr Wallace.

Tom,
ANY idea on price? If this were very affordable, I'd snag one and it would live in the garage until I could afford to move forward.
$$ Makes a diff.
Thanks,
Jon

I have no idea on $$$. Totally depends on what is built, roller or white body, with or with out engine. The old FRC white bodies were less then the FRCs when they came out.
Pick them up AT the factory too.
a Big part of this idea is that why take a salvaged frame and then build a race car?? have most of the car with new parts then build the race car.

I've been keeping my eyes out for a stripper (not THAT kind ) a car that I pull all the creature comforts out of and build a track only car with cage/etc. so I can stop bastardizing my coupe.
But your right, it's hard. Affordable strippers are cars with high miles or some sort of salvage which means potential damage and safety concerns or a beat-up engine...
I'd be most interested in a body with engine. Committment hinges on cost.

STEEL frame, I'd expect there to be a ton of interest. Heck, I'd be up for a roller w/ or w/o LS2 . . . . if it's anything like the original run in 97/98, I'd expect the cost to be reasonable (IIRC, the "white body" cars went for ~ 50% of their street counterparts).
Killer for some (depending on class) is whether these would be VIN stamped or not -- if its for homogulation, then I'd expect that to be addressed already (but, as long as we're speculating.....)

Yes I would be interested. I assume it would be the steel frame version C6? A C6Z body and sub assemblies on a C6 steel chassis would be a very nice car (magnesium subframes, C6Z diff).

I heard something about the old 99 BIW's before but didn't know if it was true. I heard that they came with two sets of body panels, rolling chassis, diff, tranny, and torque tube all for $9900. Does anyone know how accurate this is?
