Default anyone running pfc-01 pads?

I'm considering running either the pfc-01 or carbotech xp12 front and xp10 rear for my next track event. What rear pads are you guys running with the pfc-01's. Any opinions on either pad would be appreciated. I destroyed my stock z51 brakes at watkins last week.

I ran PFC-01 front, PFC-Z rear on my C6 Z51... I swapped out the Z51 brakes for base model:

The part number on the caliper brackets (abutments) are 12455800 and 12455799. You'll need to order 2 of each. FredBeans has them for $32.93/ea.

NAPA rotors:

* RF is UP86700 $27.99/ea
* LF is UP86701 $27.99/ea
* LR is UP86702 $28.49/ea
* RR is UP86703 $28.49/ea

Rockauto.Com Rotors:

* RF is 56700 $20.99/ea
* LF is 56701 $20.99/ea
* LR is 56702 $21.79/ea
* RR is 56703 $21.79/ea

I think Pegasus Racing Supply had PFC-01 fronts for $252 which was the best price I found.

If you use PFC-01 pads on the front you need to use the -01 pads on the rear or your brake bias may be greatly unbalanced.

I use the PFC01 on front and back without any problems. Well except for small hairline cracks around the drilled holes on the front rotors after 8 sessions. The PFC 01 are great pads and you will be shocked at how well you can stop with race rubber and these pads.

How often have you had to change the front rotors. Any total crack throughs?

I can't wait for the day that all of these stupid slots, holes, grooves etc in the rotors go away. It is an anachronism today and is worse than not necessary. Go to the PRI show and corner any of the brake companies' engineers and see what they really say about rotor "tattoos". Plain rotors work best and crack less that any groovy rotors. If you want to cut glass you first notch it. I run the PFC 05 and it is superb as is the 01.

I (currently) run PFC-01 pads front and rear. In 30+ years of racing..........UM, well 25 with discs, I have cracked three (3) rotors (total). Maybe I just don't drive fast enough

Hi,

I run 01s in the front and 97s in the rear. The bias is already unbalanced. The rears don't get as hot as the fronts. The 97s and 01s are a good balance.

Not all pads are available for all cars/or calipers.

To answer the question I have been running this combo since 2001. Also ran with Hawks. I am happy with the PFCs.

Steven

No total crack throughs yet the cracks are probably less than 1/4" long on either side of the holes in the centerline of the rotors. I'm not sure how much more they would take before cracking all the way through. They are fine as is for street use but, I will be changing the fronts before my next track event. It all depends on driver style how long they will last. I would guess you can get between 2-8 track days on them but at the replacement cost new of less than $150 there is no sense in taking a chance.

No but the C6Z ones are. Once I have recovered some of those development costs, then the others will follow.

The Carbotechs will leave the PFC-01s in the dust!! Phil Croyle tried using the PFCs at Sebring in 05 and lasted about 3 laps until his brakes just faded away. The Carbotechs just kept stopping!!!! The icing on the cake is that they are cheaper too!!!!

Any problems with cracking rotors or excessive wear. I got 8 track days out of my fronts and I was satisfied with that.

That's what I thought, too, but with my stock Supercars everything felt just fine... great, in fact. The Z-compound on the rear was a recommendation from the vendor so I figured I'd give it a shot.

Life will certainly change once I get good rubber and then I'll re-evaluate the rear compound.

At $25 per rotor, who really cares! Seriously though, all the racing brakes are agressive and will eat your rotors...doesn't matter what brand they are - PFC, Carbotech, Hawks, etc. The Hawks are the worst probably and then the PFC and Carbotechs are about the same...but they will eventually crack the rotor - as all of them will. Always carry spare brakes and rotors with you to the track - cheap insurance.

The better you become at braking and the more you do this, the faster you will go thru brakes, tires, rotors, calipers, etc. There's just no getting around it. Once you try the Carbos though, you will not go back to the PFCs. If you don't think they are the best thing since sliced bread, I'll buy them from you!

Chris, what about the DTC-70s? Have you evaluated them?

Carbotechs are OK in terms of performance. Similar to the DTC-70s in my book. However at my last outing (2 days of SCCA PDX at Pocono full) the XP-12 front pads in my C6Z were gone at the end of day 2!!!

Front pads would last me 4 to 6 track days in the C5Z. Maybe that's the nature of the C6Z beast (higher speeds to haul the car down from), but daayyuumm, only two days for a $350 set of front pads?

Oh, and to add insult to injury, all 4 rotors have cracks emanating from the "drilled" holes, so they also have to be replaced ($500 for the set of 4).

I know, I know, speed costs money; how fast do you want to go?
