Default No cats next year in t1/2...sound level???

If I read the GCR correctly, the T1/2 bunch can take off the cats and replace them with a straight pipe starting next Jan. I just wondered how much louder (in dbs) it's going to be?? Anybody else replaced their cats and got a sound reading at a track? Right now, I hit anywhere between 90 to 97 dbs at the track(s) depending on the track itself and the conditions. Most events run with a limit of 103. I just wonder how close I'll be to that number and if I need to do something else to the car to ensure it doesn't go over that 103.

How do they test for the sound level?

There's a sound meter sitting off the side of the track and it "listens" as the cars go by and registers a db level.

a straight-through resonator should help if you're over the limit. Very easy to splice one in the xpipe.

Chris,

I am so glad we are allowed to remove the cats...being allergic to them and being a dog-lover (hardy har har)...

Man, I think our cars are going to be noisey! Especially mine with the exhaust exiting right behind my ears! I am certain a silencer of some sort will be required.

From experience with my car it will be loud... After removing the cats I was not allowed to run during quiet hours at Road Atlanta... I believe they had me at 107 db...

I thought they pulled you for your aggressive driving while out intimidating the porsche boys!

I don't have headers or anything like that so I'm hoping it won't make that much difference. I've already scouted the local Lowe's for an exhaust pipe exit extension (can you say rigged) that turns away from the db reader. Hopefully I won't have to use it.

Dave, with that big V10 exhaust right under your ear, I'm pretty sure you'll have to do something!!!!!

I have no cats and stingers (which are barely resonators) and LT's, and it is VERY LOUD. You almost need earplugs. When I get out of the car, my ears sometime ring like a rock concert, but not as bad.

Removing the cats, makes removing the mufflers sound like nothing. Don't know what DB I am, but it's ridiculous.
