Removing Adhesive after a HPDE
I drive my first event at VIR, October 14th. Anyone know of an easy way to remove the contact paper residue and the adhesive that the numbers leave behind? I am putting on the contact paper this weekend, so since it will be on there for over a week I assume it could leave a great deal on the car.

I'd use 3M as all their products are great. I had Goo-gone and it leaked on my truck dash. Dash-gone! Melted the dash Wd-40 shouold be OK also

Here's the best stuff I've found. It removes rubber residue and stuff from the car and waxes it at the same time.

Give the car a quick cleanup with some quick detail spray wax so the surface is clean and slippery. The stuff will still stick but comes off fairly easy.
Not true contact paper! It's thiner and the glue is High Tac. Let it get hot and you'll be really bummed out when you remove it (trust me on this one). I'm using ConTact brand Multipurpose Covering with Medium Adhesive. If it doesn't say Medium Adhesive you don't want it. You can find it at Home Depot for $6/roll for the clear. I do the bottom sides of the car from behind the front wheel to the back of the car. I've used it on the hood and the top of the front quarter panels. If you put some on the hood then pop the hood and leave it open after you get off the track. It actually helps with the chips from flying pebbles off the car in front of you. And all the tire worms don't leave the lovely black streaks on the car.
When you put it on just get rid of the big air bubbles. Those are the ones that leave funny looking glue rings on the car. They do come off easy with just soap and water. No need for 3M adhesive remover or anything like that.
When I get home I grab a corner and peel it off, easy. My lower panels have no chips. I wish I would have put it on the headlight covers , top of the front quarter panels, and the hood sooner. It may not look pimpy when you're at the track but you have less chips and cleanup to do when you get home.
I use a bra on the nose and side view mirrors. And those things have taken a beating.
The waxer in me will just not let it go to the track uncovered...

Thanks for the info. I'll make a run to HD tomorrow for my supplies. Wanted to check out a cordless impact wrench anyways.
I see a lot of people running a similar cover on front and sides. I am ready to join them. I hate chips!!
