Default HELP! Car Died On Track Won't Restart

After about 20 minutes into a session at Road Am I exit 12 start going uphill and hear a little pop then I thought I saw on the display "service traction lock" and an immediate loss of power. i coast and exit right away at 13 see somthing like "reduced engine power" on the display and turn off the car. I checked the under the hood--nothing unusual. Temp/oil looked normal. Read the codes and got PCM 137, 138, 153 (i hve O2 sims) 342 1514 and TSC 1278 in history. Tried to restart car and wouldn't start--slight backfire once. Replaced cam position sensor--no change.

Any ideas would greatly be appreciated!!!!!!! Thanks so much!

OH Chit. Time to check #7 and #8. Think you may need to pull the heads off.

Once at Roebling Road my car backfired and oil in the intake manifold got puked onto the tiny sensor wire element in the MAF. Engine went into reduced power mode. Removed MAF, sprayed with contact cleaner and all was fine. Might explain the pop and code. HTH.

You got that a Radio Shack if I remember right. Didn't you have to clean the MAF twice then gave up?

Yeah, only I don't think I gave up until it happened the third time. As you know I am cursed at RR.

THANKS SO MUCH for the repsonses!!

After breathing down the neck of poor Joel who tried 'till 5 minutes before the track grounds closed last night and then this morning he found when he took off the intake manifold what appeared to be excess fuel on top of the valves. Then we find the valves won't move but the crank shaft dampener still moves. Timing chain busted???

My poor car!! This is the same untouched crate long block engine that was just purchased/installed for my car last June.

Any more ideas/advice/things to watch/check for?
Thanks again so much. (at least my poor car is tucked away with some other beautiful restored Vettes)

Thanks John! Just got the word a bit ago (I was in Milwaukee at a good friends, picking up the rest of the stuff that wouldn't fit into the one remaining car the the three of us had to take home ) that it indeed was the timing chain that busted.

I wanted to add quick too because I hate to always be talking about myself, but I hope that my fellow board members that had issues this weekend too end up with happy outcomes also!!!!!!!!

Just FYI what event this was was the three day Northwoods Shelby Event at Road Am this past weekend and I was really pleased (and surprised LOL) by the number of Vettes (and fellow board members that were out there). I believe this was only the second year they have allowed non Ford cars to participate and they really seem to run a good event--so let's keep the Ford bashing to a minimum--you'll see why below

Hey even though the weather was a factor (and my car went down), I jumped on the chance to drive an '03 Cobra on Sunday--yeah it was on slicks and in the rain (and the husband's car and our only way home ) but track time's track time right??

And again thanks to Joel, John, Greg, Tom, John II, Todd Z (you were fast as heck in your basically stock C5 Z--like 2:33?), Robert--everyone!! Good luck again with your repairs (I have faith in Lingenfelter).

Anita

PS John Shiels I guess I'll have to start calling you John III
