Default No Corvetts ?????

I'm watching the Rolex 24 hr race at Daytona... (I'm a Drag Racer) and not too knowledgeable on Road Racing, but I don't see any Corvette's in the race at all... mostly Porch, Pontiac, Ford etc...

Am I missing something... sorry for the dumb question...

There are three scheduled to run in the GT class. 2 with Sahlen and one with Stevenson Motorsport. I think the numbers are 42, 43, and 97.

Here is a link to the entry list

I was watching and kept thinking how much I would love to see a factory Corvette at Daytona.

Live timing ans scoring

http://laptrax04.racersites-cluster....ew.jsp?sid=475

Looked at Live timeing

There is only one corvette #42 and it is 30 laps down. Typical Nonamaker. Go out for a few laps, take to the pits and wait to see who drops out, then go back our for a few more laps

Tom,
I'm pretty sure that I saw a WHITE Corvette out on track earlier????
Can anyone confirm that?

I think I saw the white Corvette earlier as well.

Interesting that the Pontiac GT car is at a bit of a disadvantage on this track - too big, too much aero drag, not as fast on the long straights.

The new Porsche DP motor, 4L, appears very fast so far.

Gotta go to this race someday.

Just asked over in the other thread:

Are the Vettes and RX8's in the same class?

If so, what are the restrictions on the Vettes?

the Sahlan corvette is built by Georgian Bay Motorsprots with Horagg body and the Stevenson corvette IIRC is a Tommy Riggens build. with ACP body.

both are tube frame and run the SWGT LS6 motor, I think.

Pheonix does have a GRAND-AM prep one which is an converted C6 with a create LS2. AJ raced it twice last year.

Just saw the #97 being passed by a whole bunch of DP cars with a comment "the white #97 Corvette, the Stevenson car".

Yes. But it's not so much restrictions on the Corvette that make the RX8 competitive, the RX8 gets to run the 20B 3-rotor motor (instead of the 13B stock). Think of it like giving the Corvettes an LS7 instead of an LS6...

Not sure what the suspension rules allow for the RX8 vs the Corvette off the top of my head...

I have it on DVR, will watch as time permits. Horrible series car-wise, but some awesome racing. As much as I'd love to see it be a place for Vettes to be competitive again, I watch it for the close competition.

Stevenson's Corvette got through the night okay - they're running 10th in class, 27th overall as of 8:00 AM EST. SPEED resumed coverage (and I resumed watching) at 7:00 AM...

The #97 Corvette is running 13th in class, 25th overall as of 9:00 AM...

...all the Ford-engined Daytona Prototypes are failing with electrical timing problems.
