Harness mounting points?
Having just gotten my cage in and painted, I'm now on to mounting the seat harnesses, but I need some advice as to where and how best to mount the eye bolts for the harness belts. I'm installing a 6-point harness, so if anyone has any pointers and/or photos, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

on the lap and sub belts do you have them with the latch clips or do you have bolted in?
just trying to decide if i need to order those clips when i order my harness

lap and sub belts are easy.
if you're using a HANS, they (HANS) has very specific instructions on where to mount the shoulder harness. easily found on their website.

The lap belt bar comes with eye bolts for clip-in style lap belts (as seen in the picture above). However, those holes in the bar are for the slotted metal plates that typically come with bolt-in sub belts. Since it's a mix of styles, you need to be careful how you order.
The following installation instructions on HardBar's site should give you a good idea of how they install and what to ask for.

Most good safety equipment vendors will ask which 'style' of belt you need - bolt-in or clip-in. If they know what they're doing, they'll provide all the correct hardware without making you order clips separately. But if all else fails, just give Gary at HardBarUSA a call - I'm sure he can help you gather all the required pieces-parts.
Hope that helps...

I agree, definitly do your homework on this one and know that unfortunately there are several harness bars that are either built into a cage design or just installed into a stock type track day car that are positioned at the wrong height in relation to the driver's shoulder height.

This may help a bit.

Thanks for the replies! Is the Hardbar mounting bracket SCCA-approved for racing? I was picturing having to drill thru the floor and weld plates in to mount the eye hooks for the lap and sub belts.
