Default Sizes of slicks

Can anyone explain the sizes of slicks? What does the middle number mean? What would be the size equivalent in a DOT tire?
Examples: 285/645/18, 305/675/18.

Middle number looks like the overall diameter. You should then be able to calculate the equivalent aspect ratio. 285/645/18 = ~30 305/675/18 = ~35
