UPDATE: High Coolant Temps Solved!
About a month ago I ran a thread about high coolant temps this summer and the muck I got out of the stock radiator fins:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/auto...ant-temps.html
This weekend saw a return to the same autocross lot that I ran in June that had coolant temps in the red and coolant puking overboard (fortunately not on course).
Ambient temps were about the same as in June with little cloud cover, but a bit more wind. So, I think the surface temps were about the same, if that makes a difference.
What definitely made a difference though was the radiator cooling. After four runs in the afternoon coolant temps were around 240, probably a 15 degree drop from what I experienced in June.
So, if you're having high coolant temps, before you replace the radiator, try giving it a good cleaning instead!
Have a good one,
Mike

The course was a 68 second run, mainly in 1st with a couple of short forays into 2nd. Ambient temps were in the high 90s, with probably a couple of minutes between the four runs.
With that in mind, peaking in the low 240s isn't too bad. At least it's within the normal operating range.
HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

The cooling fins will hold a ton of sand/dirt. I use 2ft extension on my air gun, and it takes about an hour to get it, to stop dropping sand. The garage floor is just covered with sand.
