Repairing Hoosier R6 Tires ?
I was wondering if anyone has any experience from repairing a Hoosier R6 Tire. I bought a new set and managed to pick up a small nail the first day which lead to a small leak (Looses all pressure after 4 days). Wondered if anyone has patched these tires or if it's any risk with it ?

I'm not racing these, just running them at HPDE events and trying to save some $ if possible

Dismount tire and have a tire shop do a good vulcanized patch from the inside. DO NOT PLUG tire ! I had a R6 that I ran for the life of the tire with a patch. No problem as long as puncture is not on sidewall.

I have run on plugged race tires, not the best idea but it works in a pinch. If the hole is on the smaller side it should be ok. Make sure when you cut the plug, leave about 1/4" sticking up, that way it will flatten out over the damaged area and better seal it.

I've plugged everything from race tires on a Roval to e-rated truck and trailer tires. While at plug-patch from the inside is obviously better (if you have the time and money), I've never had a plug let me down. I think the reason they are banned from tire shops is 99% money-related and 1% safety. Local shops charge over $40 to patch a tire.

Have patched and plugged a nail hole in the middle of the tire and then ran the snot out of it with no problems whatsoever

I stressed out about picking up a 5/16" bolt in a fairly new V710 last year. I wasn't sure if it was ok to patch, but I did and it's been fine. I say go for it.
