Cars 'n Coffeee, pick of the litter...
At the Cars 'n Coffee this morning in North Charlotte/South Huntersville this stunning Datsun 280Z was there amongst the Lambos/Ferraris/Porsches, but shone like a beacon. Clean as a pin and so well put together. I always wanted one:

Well, it was a real 280, but I don't know if it was a real BRE. It had a pretty much full interior in it with just a roll bar and no cage. The motor compartment (clean & tidy as an operating room) looked like it could have been from a race car.
It had john Morton's autograph.
I couldn't find the owner to ask any questions.
Was BRE still racing the 280's? I know they were big in the 240's.

I think you're right. Looks like BRE did Datsun 2000s, 240Zs, and 510s. Looks like the #30 is a BRE tribute car: http://www.bre2.net/index.php?section=123 (about 2/3rds of the way down the page)
Very very cool. I have a buddy that has two 240Zs that he races in vintage events or ITE...

Looks like they are doing a 40th anniversary model (I don't like the 350 but I kind of like the 370 vert, maybe a good wife car):

This car belongs to a find a friend of mine. It is a BRE replica. I think he did a great job on the car. The Morton's helped him get some of the graphics for the car. It has seen the track once, and he plans to take it to CMP with THSCC in October.

Very nice indeed. There was a 240 running at Hallett on Saturday, nothing like this car but cool seeing it run. It was just damn seeing that car. I remember when they were new..... which makes me feel old.
thanks for posting. A sweet car.

I also remember seeing my first 240Z in 1970 at a gas station in Steele, Alabama - it was orange and love at first sight.

I never owned a Z, drove some at autocrosses, etc but I did drive 510's for 10 years and won a ton of autocrosses, some TD rallies and far to many close calls hauling **** in the middle of the night, tarmac, gravel, dirt, etc...those where the days!
Back then we did not have much for power or tires so you could go pretty nuts and not be going insanely fast like in a Vette or other modern fast cars.
I had a buddy that was the photographer for Paul Newman's team and he gave me all the decals, badges, etc for my nicest 510, a very rare SSS car.
I came close to buying a very trick 510 with 350z power last year, just did not need one more not quite finished project car to take up my time, space, energy, etc but sure wanted it.
240Z, one of my favorite all time cars and always will be

To echo Morris, Dana did an excellent job on his BRE replica (the one in the OPs original post). He had it at the track in Nashville with us a couple of weeks ago along with some other historic Nissan cars. Very cool.
I look forward to seeing it on track again. The beauty of this car is that Dana built it to DRIVE... no garage queen here.
