Default Update for our Spectre 341 Hill climb ZR1

Hi guys,

We cracked two milestones for our ZR1. Over 750 rwhp and over 800 rwtq.

This is the car that we will be taking to the Spectre 341 Hill climb again for this year's run up the mountain. We won it last year but we know that the other competitors will be back loaded for bear.

SO we thought we would go there loaded for Elephant! 756.88 rwhp 802.93 rwtq

We still have some work to do but we thought we would share our results so far. We plan full race gas for the hill climb in June.

Mods are:

LG Super Pro 1 7/8" headers With Merge collectors.
LG - G6XT cam designed for Forced Induction

CnC'd LS9 Heads to our exclusive LG specs
Upper and Lower pulleys
Stock mufflers with "Man ****"
Overdrive crank pulley
Smaller upper pulley
Enlarged Blower snout
Cold air induction
LG LS9 Custom Flywheel
Tilton 7.25” carbon clutch
Larger heat exchanger

This was run on 100 unleaded gas. We will get back to you when we are finished with the race gas tune.

We have another ZR1 that we have to finish an E85 Tune on first then we will post the final numbers on both cars.

Oh year, it is my daily driver

Thanks

Lou Gigliotti

How much HP does the record-holding F40 have? 480 maybe?

Upgraded turbo, which it has, yields this much flywheel hp.

511 bhp @ 6700 rpm and peak torque of 422 lb-ft @ 5900 rpm

But they are really close to a race car but so is a corvette ZR1.

A supercharger will heat up and lose significant hp where a turbo will not lose power up the hill.

So the actual power in the Ferrari from half way up will be higher than even my monster (at sea level) ZR1.
that is why they used Turbos in high altitude planes in WWll.

Then why no methanol injection to cool the intake charge?

It will heat up even with that. It helps but it is still not as good as a turbo is on a long run.

Lou,
I hillclimb a C4 up here in the northeast, and I would love to see some muscle take on these hills. A website you can go to is www.pahillclimb.org check it out. Joe

Sheesh, that torque "curve" looks more like a CLIFF!

Looks like roughly 700 RWTQ at 2500 RPM?

MAMA MIA!

The Wasp (P47 and Corsair) and Merlin (P51 and Spitfire) all had superchargers.

The wasp in the B29 did have one variant with a turbo in addition to supercharger.

Back then they referred to internal (typically geared) superchargers and external (typically exhaust driven) superchargers. GE started calling them "turbosuperchargers" and so it seems it was shortened to turbocharged or turbo at some point. The 1930's and 1940's really drove mechanical improvements on piston engines like the engine control improvements we have seen in the last 20 years or so.

Lou why not ditch the Heaton (yes I know it's not the old school blower ) and do a mild twin turbo.

Hi,

Right around 590 rwhp +/-
I think we will need the power to offset the big guns that will show up this year.
