Occupy Race Tracks 2012
I am a member of racing’s 99%. I race cars, but have not yet made it to the professional level. I have driven cars for over 30 years, but have not really put in the practice time, mechanical work and study to be the best.
I probably do not have the skills to get there either. However, I now feel that I should be paid by the successful pro drivers for trying. It isn't fair that those drivers who have worked harder, have studied the discipline, have better setup their equipment and are more skilled should make all that money and have all that glory. Sure, they have their charities that they give millions of dollars to, but I am sure that they write all that off on their tax returns to reduce paying their fair share. Is that fair?
They should pay for my racing, buy me new cars, a new transporter and pay me some of their winnings. The whole system should be changed to accommodate people like me! Let's occupy a race track and demand that those who are better at racing pay for us who aren't as good.
Whining should get us something like media attention, sympathy and money for under-achieving.

And then we could all hang out with our tents in the pits/paddock area drinking, smoking pot, pissing and pooping where we are living, and leaving all our trash for someone else to clean up.

So is this movement just for drivers, or can crew members participate also?
After 30 years of "volunteer" crewing, for teams of the 99%, it's time that the 1% pay to take care of me too! Transportation to and from the track, catered lunch, a personal trainer to keep me in shape (okay, get me in shape) and someplace to sleep (other than the floor of the trailer), would be a good start.
Actually, as volunteer crew, we often sleep in tents and go without showers. I guess I was a part of the occupy movement before it was trendy.
So after thinking about it, count me out. I'm easy, free credentials and the occasional hotel room, will keep me happy for another 30 years.

Put me on the list for Tee Shirt as well. Maybe the back of the shirt can have a list of our needs: Free event passes, Fuel Stamps, Meal Cupons, Guaranteed bonus for participation, Pain and suffering pension plan. Best of all, no fault replacement car program.
