APR GTC 500 mounting question
So I'm looking at this as well as a splitter for my next mod. After reading various threads, mounting the wing to the frame seems to be safer and more effective. How easy/hard is it to get in the hatch if you mount it to the frame? The obvious benefit to mounting to the hatch is cheaper cost and I assume easier hatch access.
Curious to see pics if any of you mounted to the frame and can easily open hatch? I daily drive my car for now so getting in hatch without hassle is important. Then again, not having the wing fly off and also having downforce on the frame is also important

I'm interested in seeing some pics as well. Mark, I like the wing and want one too, but do you really want to drive around with that enormous wing every day?

Mark, I have been running the APR mounted to the deck lid for 5 years and no problems. Here are some pictures. You will need to support the deck lid when it is open because the wing is to heavy for the support on the deck. But other than that, the wing works great. JD

Mine is deck lid mounted and has been over 170 mph a number of times. So far so good. As JDIllion said, the wing adds too much weight for the hatch struts so you have to hold the deck lid up when putting stuff in the back.

Have either of you had any issues with the wing causing the hatch to deform at all? I have a buddy with a Mustang that has run NASA TT for a number of years and his trunk lid is deformed quite a bit from the downforce.

Nope not on mine! 165+ many times and no problems. No cracks! I made a neat deal to keep the deck lid up. I cut a piece of hard plastic pipe just the right length and then split it down the length with a 1/4" cut and I slip that over the strut to hold the deck lid up. JD

I guess almost no one is mounting this wing to the frame, which is surprising. Glad you guys aren't having any issues.

You guys should look at the GTC300. It has better downforce numbers at the speeds normally seen in DE or our level of racing and also has a better L/D ratio even though it isn't as wide. Bonus, it costs less

Anyone have pics of how the braces are underneath? I went ahead and mounted mine up seeing I had some free time, but don't have a splitter yet.

I bought a used deck for $100 so I wouldn't have to drill my good one. It is only 4 bolts to switch out deck lid, so it will not be much different than switching out racing seats. Just not sure about the mounting brackets underneath.
